Daley wants to turn back the clock by 30 minutes to prevent what happened last year, when 24 Chicago Public Schools students were gunned down. Chicago’s homicide rate stands at a 40-year low. But, all too many of the 442 murder victims in 2007 were young people.

THEN GOD CREATED ILLINOIS
Once upon a time in the kingdom of Heaven , God was missing for six days.
Eventually, Michael the archangel found him, resting on the seventh day
He inquired of God. “Where have you been?”
God sighed a deep sigh of satisfaction and proudly pointed downwards
through the clouds, “Look, Michael. Look what I’ve created.”
Archangel Michael looked puzzled and said, “What is it?”
“It’s a planet,” replied God, “and I’ve put Life on it.
I’m going to call it Earth and it’s going to be a great place of balance.”
“Balance?” Inquired Michael, still confused.
God explained, pointing to different parts of earth and told of Illinois
“For example, northern Europe will be a place of great opportunity and
wealth but cold and harsh while southern Europe is going to be
poor but sunny and pleasant .
“I have made some lands abundant in water and other lands parched deserts. “This one will be extremely hot and while this one will be very cold and covered in ice.”
The Archangel , impressed by God’s work, then pointed to a land mass and
said, “What’s that one?”
“Ah,” said God. “That’s Illinois the most glorious place on earth.
There will be beautiful prairies, grasslands, farms, streams, abundant
wild game and birds, rolling hills and woodlands.
The people from Illinois are going to be handsome, modest, intelligent and humorous and
they are going to be found traveling the world.
They will be extremely sociable, hardworking and high achieving, and they will be
known throughout the world as diplomats and ambassadors of peace.”
Michael gasped in wonder and admiration but then proclaimed, “What about
balance, God? You said there would be balance!!!”
God replied wisely, sadly and with a twinkle in his eye,
“Wait until you see the idiots I put in Springfield , Cook County and Chicago City Hall.”

Let’s hope the distracted driving panel decides smoking in vehicles is a distraction, and bans that.
We don’t need children gagging to death in cars because their parents are smoking.

Perhaps the distracted driving panel will also find that children in cars are an even bigger distraction than cell phones. Are we there yet????

The thing about the Daily Herald article that sprung out for me was the statement that Illinois was all locked up for Obama, implying that some people that may have been his voters will vote on the other side or stay home.
See how well that worked in New Hampshire? I think Obama voters will be out in droves, to prevent what happened in New Hampshire happening here in Illinois.

According to CNN, Kerry is going to endorse Obama.
Very interesting, he is still very popular dem and a nice pickup against the establishment folks backing Clinton.

I don’t understand Daley wanting the curfew changed as I understand it SOS has just made that change statewide as part of the graduated drivers license program which took effect 1/1/08

Rich what is your take on Andrew Cuomo’s “shuck and and jive” comments about Obama?

Cuomo has tried to clarify, but as an African American I have a simple question. Would he have used the same word choice to describe Edwards.

Like I said in comments this week, the media is gonna be looking closely for the same sort of over the top comments that were leveled at Sen. Clinton after Iowa.
Stupid comment and plays right into what I think will be a developing narrative.

So, let’s see, I’m a super-responsible teen who wants to go outside late for some perfectly acceptable reason. Because of a problems in a few Chicago neighborhoods, I’m stuck in the house.
Isn’t this a bit too much government intrusion.
This treats all teens like gun-toting gangbangers.
The vast majority of them are so not like that.
