Dozens of southern Illinois Republican county chairs “condemn” Kinzinger’s actions

Posted in:

* Press release…

Southern Regional Republican County Chairmen Condemn the Actions of Congressman Adam Kinzinger against President Donald J. Trump

In a Southern Regional Zoom Meeting on January 19th, 2021 of Illinois County Chairmen, it was agreed that the acts of US Representative Adam Kinzinger of the 16th Congressional District should not go unnoticed but rather, should be condemned.

Adam Kinzinger Refuses to consider claims of Illegality and fraud in the 2020 Presidential Election evidenced by his statement released on January 6, 2021, Representative Kinzinger was dismissive of claims of voter fraud stating “the will of the people was made clear—Joseph R. Biden will be the 46th President of the United States {} … our Constitution, was upheld.”

Adding insult to the appalling injury already felt to the thousands of voters in Southern Illinois that supported President Trump and our beloved Constitution, Representative Kinzinger congratulates Joe Biden on his Inauguration, just days after calling for President Donald Trump’s Impeachment.

The baseless public claims that Representative Kinzinger has made against President Trump do not reflect the beliefs of the Southern Regional Chairmen nor largely those that we represent. It has certainly taken its toll on our Country and our Party.

We encourage One Mind One Strength and No Division. We Thank President Trump for his Service to this Country, and wish the New Administration All the Best.

To Date the following 36 Republican Chairmen/ leaders have echoed their concerns and concurrence from the following counties throughout the 12th, 13th and 15th Congressional Districts in the Southern Region of State of Illinois:

Whew. So much to unpack there. Have at it. I’m a bit busy with other stuff.

Baseless? Umm, perhaps they missed the 77 days post election and Trump’s efforts to steal the presidency. I might suggest they read this story (or the series) and then get back to those of us in the real world about how “baseless” Kinzinger’s claims are.

Comment by Cumberland Dem Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 2:51 pm

  23. The rants of the Southern Illinois and LaSalle County Republican chairmen would be understandable except for the fact that they are totally detached from reality. It is abundantly clear that but for a few notable exceptions, the Republican party is living in an alternative universe. It has caused them to lose the White House, Senate, and House of Representatives. And they’re now doubling down on the strategy.

Comment by Pundent Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 2:58 pm

  24. Interestingly, Google links this slogan to I Corinthians 1:10 “Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.”

Comment by Friendly Bob Adams Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 2:58 pm

  25. It’s pretty scary how a significant portion of our population believes that the election was stolen when it has no basis in fact. It seems like the Republican party has turned into a death cult feeding on itself and turning on everyone else like some rabid animal. They circle the wagons around wingnuts like Marjorie Taylor Greene and won’t support members who show courage, conviction and honor to truth.

Comment by Manchester Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 2:59 pm

  26. ===One Mind One Strength and No Division

I believe it’s a paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 1:10 and “All the Best” is a paraphrase of a Trump statement. There’s probably some kind of far-right reference here but I’m not up on the terminology.

Comment by Earnest Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 3:02 pm

  27. The part I can’t get past the most is the line about Kinzinger congratulating Biden effectively being a sign of Kinzinger’s treason. These people are so distanced from reality it is both embarrassing and sad.

  28. I remember hearing a couple years ago from a friend who is plugged into McLean County Republican politics that there were warnings given by Rodney Davis’s people to the more moderate faction of Republicans to get on the Trump bandwagon or get out of the party. I took it with a grain of salt then but looks like Rodney’s people are now saying the same thing publicly. Yikes.

  30. How many know the election was not stolen but say it is just to hold onto power and continue exploiting the misled and misinformed? As leaders it is their responsibility to tell the truth about something as vital to our country as the peaceful transfer of power.

Comment by Grandson of Man Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 3:12 pm

  31. If the chairs think Kinzinger should “consider claims of Illegality and fraud in the 2020 Presidential Election”, perhaps they should provide the data proving their claims in a format solid enough to be presented in court. It is a shame that the chairs must be holding the proof back because no one else seems to have found it.

  38. Grandson. I know you know this and it’s so disappointing. They are not leaders. With safe districts they don’t need to lead, they just need to feed their constituents the crap they want to believe and they can get reelected easily.

    i.e. Eastern Bloc, LaHood.

  39. Jibba - I think you may be closer to the truth than anyone wants to admit. I’m in the heart of this lunacy. The desire to secede from Chicago has already been plainly expressed, and voted on. How far away is complete secession? On January 6th the shots were taken at Ft. Sumter. Is the next Lincoln in the White House?

  46. Such good theater.
Reap what you sow. Kinzinger played the same hostile narrative for last three years stoking the fire. Don’t feel bad now that he’s had a change of heart, looking to run for statewide office, and getting burned by the same torches he helped light.

  47. “Yeah but, Cook, Lake, Kane and DuPage swing voters won’t condemn it all when he runs for the Senate in a few years.”

It’s a gamble for Kinzinger. Assuming he gets through a primary, will he draw in more suburban voters (who had previously voted for Duckworth) than the downstate GOPers who will vote third party/not vote.

  51. I have always been just to the right of fiscally moderate and am socially moderate. I consider myself independent but have probably voted for more Republicans than Democrats in my lifetime.
I’m in alignment overall with Kinzinger’s position on Trump. I am disgusted with the state of the Republican party based on actions like this and Donald Trump Jr’s “It’s our party now” statement.

  55. If anyone were to ask me why I’m no longer a Republican I would point at this marginally literate Confederate press release without saying a word.

If Kinzinger wants to win a statewide primary it’s probably best for him to wait until ‘26. It will take several years for sane Republicans to retake the party, and that may be too optimistic.

Comment by Independent Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 4:40 pm

  56. I recently read a quote from FDR that I think applies to today’s GOP Trump cult. “No man can tame a tiger into a kitten by stroking it. There can be no appeasement with ruthlessness. There can be no reasoning with an incendiary bomb.”

  57. The horror. Honoring the result of an election and congratulating the winner. By all means he should be kicked out of the party.

Somebody slipped them a copy of the Nuremberg Code and said it was the constitution. easy to clear up, we just need to send them the US Constitution STAT (banned punctuation).

From 1938 Nazi propaganda “One People, One Nation, One Leader”

  59. After their goofball rant they had the class and decency to “wish the New Administration All the Best”, so there’s that.

Perhaps the random capitalization is more clever than one would first think. It could contain a secret message for QAnon followers to decipher.

Comment by Independent Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 4:53 pm

  60. If I’m Kinzinger, I lay low for a while and let the QAnon party really develop it’s platform beyond “What About?” and “Because!” I will thoroughly enjoy watching the ILGOP message this to victory.

Comment by Now What? Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 4:59 pm

  61. Bipartisanship and statesmanship are as close to non-existing as can be. This is why the normal people have abandoned the Republican Party. It’s possible people have left their party affiliation alone so as to vote in primaries, but moderates are looking at the options and voting Democratic in the general election. I just cannot follow the logic that says push everyone out of the tent and then we will be able to elect more people like us. Quite honestly I’m terrified and disappointed that people still believe the extremists,

Comment by thoughts matter Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 5:26 pm

  62. Random capitalization must be some sort of code on the insurrectionist hotline. Also - they should just file lawsuits and let the court system see the evidence. Nobody’s done that yet…

Comment by Lincoln Lad Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 5:31 pm

  63. If you pick out all of the inappropriately capitalized letters, then rearrange them, it actually spells out the phrase “I can change my Pampers all by myself, I just choose not to.”

But seriously, that “one mind, one strength” bit sounds so Orwellian that you almost have to wonder if they’re trolling us.

  68. I looked for Macoupin county and was relieved to see that it was not listed…but Madison and Montgomery made the cut. OMG is in order. Neighborhood has went to the swamp, including the county of my Alma mater SIU-E. Incredible, downright depressing. I am a Democrat that has voted for only a couple of Republican’s over the past 40 years, but I sure hope the red party pulls itself out of this madness. Historical times I suppose.

    Comment by Just A Dude Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 6:41 pm

  69. I respect Kinzinger, but unfortunately in 2021 (and for the foreseeable future) a vote for him for senate is a vote for *every* Republican from Mitch to Tommy Tuberville. There’s little he can bring to the table that would outweigh putting the GOP back in power, esp. as they have a good chance (despite everything) of taking the House in 2022.

Comment by lake county democrat Thursday, Feb 4, 21 @ 6:43 pm

  70. Let’s see what they do now with the committee removal vote. Be lucky for the Dems to have a GOP County Chairs party that believes school shootings were staged and 9/11 was a hoax. Oh and let’s not forget the Jewish lasers lighting forest fires.

Again though Adam you may be moving correctly now but how many Marjorie’s in your district did you placate during the Obama and Trump administration. Feeding those conspiracies, until now you’ve realized you can’t win statewide being crazy.

  71. I don’t know how the state Republican party can regroup for the next election. Trump’s election allegations are false. How does Kinzinger become a part of the future of the party? He’s correct about his assessment of the former President. He’s a voice of reason at an unreasonable time.
