Re: Burge case being the focus of a South Side forum: Trying to nail Milan and Alvarez with the Burge case is like trying to nail Allen and Brookins with Council Wars. This is patently silly. Milan and Alvarez were in college when the Burge allegations occurred and they were in a misdemeanor courtroom when the statute of limitations expired. Howard Brookins and Tommy Brewer started out as Assistant State’s Attorneys a long time ago. What did they do about Burge?
The Brookins campaign is all about race baiting and whining about negative coverage in the press being as a result of a racist news corps. Don’t forget that Brookins bleated that the disclosure of his manifold legal troubles were “the same as” those leveled against “Harold Washington”. A bunch of malarkey, plain and simple.
One last riposte: Why is Cliff Kelley a moderator at one South Side forum even though he appears in one of Brookins’ online ads? And why is Jim Montgomery, that class act of a lawyer, a panelist at Holy Trinity yesterday even though he gave Brookins $5,000? I’ll leave it to your collective wisdom to answer.
