  1. That’s why you shoul dnot vote early! Candidate X could get caught doing things with farm animals on two days prior to election and if you don’t support this type of behavoir, you are out of luck.

  2. The Sun-times endorsements are total hogwash. What do they do, throw a bunch of names in the hat and draw one out?

Take Suffredin for example. They endorse him one day and the next day they’re trashing Suffredin for his questionable lobby client list.

  3. The sun-times and the trib should be ashamed of their endorsements in the State’s Atty race. Both papers have done a very poor job of profiling the candidates and have barely covered the race. Their endorsements were not well researched or written, for that matter. The Trib endorsed Allen with the main reason given that he is so “tough” that somebody threatened to kill him when he was going to knock a building down. Gimme a break!

  4. Bill Clinton recognizes that a February vote for Barack is a November vote for Hillary. Illinois voters are so predictable.

Comment by Patriot Thursday, Jan 31, 08 @ 10:21 am

  5. The Sun-Times endorsed Steve Sauerberg, but the majority of republican primary voters are conservatives who know that the Sun-Times is liberal. They’ll know that, if the Sun-Times endorses a candidate, the voters should vote for a different candidate, Mike Psak, the only conservative in the race. He was endorsed by the Illinois Federation for Right to Life and the Chicago Minuteman Project. Please read his site, www.psak4ussenate.com.

  6. The Sun Times has lost all credibility in their endorsements years ago — Lisa Madigan over John Schmidt; Todd Stroger over Tony Peraica… c’mon.

  7. Patriot - You’re wrong. I will not vote for Hillary. No way, no day. I’ll either vote for McCain, or hopefully Bloomberg or Nader will jump in, or I just won’t vote for President. Most of my friends feel the same way. They support Barack because of what he says and how he inspires, not because he’s a Dem. Barack supporters are not drones. They will not support Hillary just because she won.

Are you sure you live in Illinois? Your post is a breath of fresh air.

  9. Been wondering for a while what would happen if a Democratic presidential candidate got more than 15 percent in the Illinois primary, but he did not have any delegates on the ballot. Would he be out in the cold? Or would the party give him a do-over on naming delegates?

Edwards has few delegates that I noticed on the ballot in the various Illinois C.D.s. Nothing in the Chicago area.

Was he similarly disorganized in other Super Tuesday states?

If so, maybe that’s part of why he dropped.

  10. Not sure where else to ask this so here goes. Rich, is Hendon really backing Johnson over Burns? I thought Emil was backing Burns all the way so how does Emil’s absolutely closest ally back someone else? Have I missed something here?

  11. Almost makes me wonder the point of doing early voting if most of the candidates are gone by the time election day comes around. That clerk is right, it is the risk you take.

  12. Patriot - I can’t tell if you’re being snarky. Yes, I’m sure that I live in IL.

Sincere praise for a free-thinker. I do not see much free-thinking in Illinois politics.

Comment by Patriot Thursday, Jan 31, 08 @ 12:10 pm

  14. Patriot - Thanks for the praise. Sadly, your observation is correct. When will people realize that a little free-thinking shouldn’t hurt anyone?

Notice that I typed ’shouldn’t'… I am perfectly aware that it can and does hurt. It’s a shame.
