The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) today reported 16,742 new confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including 64 additional deaths since reporting last Friday, July 30, 2021. More than 75% of Illinois adults have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose and more than 59% of Illinois adults are fully vaccinated, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 1,436,353 cases, including 23,503 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois. The age of cases ranges from younger than one to older than 100 years. Since reporting on Friday, July 30, 2021, laboratories have reported 365,210 specimens for a total of 27,188,772. As of last night, 1,200 individuals in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 246 patients were in the ICU and 121 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators. Hospitalizations with COVID-19 are up 33% from what was reported last week, those in the ICU with COVID-19 are up 47%, and patients on ventilators almost double in just one week at 95%.
The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from July 30-August 5, 2021 is 4.6%. A total of 13,388,013 vaccines have been administered in Illinois as of last midnight. The seven-day rolling average of vaccines administered daily is 25,244 doses. Since reporting on Friday, July 30, 2021, 176,709 doses were reported administered in Illinois.

It’s truly sad that wrong/political information is being taken as truth and keeping people from vaccination. the stories of people dying and finally accepting the truth are horrible.

They’ve been doing this weekly for a while now (i.e. before the current surge). And, you can still see the data on a daily basis.
Also, how in the world can you make a death look worse? And exactly how many deaths are ok with you?

If you get the vaccine you can spread the virus as readily and easily as if you didn’t get the vaccine. from the CDC as reported in the NY Times July 30, 2021

Meanwhile, Springfield city workers who are unvaccinated now have a choice: be regularly tested or wear a mask while at work.
And Mayor Langfelder is mentioned as not yet requiring all employees to be vaccinated in the wake of the Governor’s and Secretary of State’s recent employee mandates:

Florida reported over 22K new cases today and over 10K in the hospital. Be glad that we aren’t at a point where daily reporting is once again necessary.

I think IDPH really needs to start breaking down these numbers. When they report 1200 people are in the hospitals with 246 in the ICU, IDPH needs to also report how many of those people are not vaccinated compared to those that are vaccinated. If IDPH really wants to advocate for vaccinations, this would be good tool to use.
