If you missed the State of the State address, you can watch the streaming video or read a transcript here. Thanks to a commenter for reminding me about this.

  2. What’s up with the new state policy that employees must account for each min., Lunch hours must be taken according to when you start work. Travel vouchers must be submitted, even if you are not on occuring any expenses, to verify your travel status.

Proof of Doctor’s visits, even if prior approved. What is the state coming to , when every min. is documented.

  3. This isn’t a value judgement at all on the policy or your comment, but how can people bitch that the governor is doing business the “same old way” and also complain that state employees must actually account for their time and time away?

Again - I am not a state employee, so I know only what I have just read in the above post, but isn’t increased accountability a good thing?

  4. Well, I’m a state employee who works well over 50 hours a week…no comp time, no overtime and I rarely take my “lunch hour.” Last year I worked 16 hours on memorial day…and when I came in two hours late the next day, I got a message from HR wanting me to put in for 2 hours of personal time to make up for coming in late. That’s not accountability - that’s crazy. You can’t legislate or regulate ethics - we all know what’s right and wrong and the state can create all the policies it wants but at some point you have to place some trust in people. I’ve earned it, so why do I have to pay the price for the losers who can’t manage to work a 40 hour work week?
