Unclear on the concept

* Press release…

NBC5’s Charlie Wojciechowski reported Tuesday night that our PAC’s latest television ad has been removed from NBC5’s broadcasts because “a number of people complained.”

https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/watch-frightening-video-shows-moment-woman-was-violently-robbed-in-broad-daylight-in-lakeview/2932108/

PBR PAC President Dan Proft’s response:

“NBC ran the same video on its newscasts. This is the new standard? So if the sane complain that they’re traumatized by Pritzker’s incendiary pro-abort ads, NBC Chicago will pull his ads? Of course not. But if the Leftist borg objects, corporate news outlets are happy to do its bidding.”

As of 9:19PM Tuesday night, the same video that appears in our ad still appears on NBC’s own website.

Reporting news is quite a bit different than using an assault purely to score political points. Just sayin.

* Also, while we’re on this topic, from a Chicago Tribune reporter…

Probably not hypothetical. “The Scream” ad that credited video of a woman in Lakeview being mugged to CWB seemed to alter the video.

Advertisers added sound (dogs barking, birds chirping), moved screaming sounds earlier & took out the victim saying “What do you want? My phone?” https://t.co/Awl1y2ufdv

  1. Why is the discussion always about the politics of the situation and never about the problem itself. A person was robbed in broad daylight. Maybe have a post that asks “how can this be solved?”

  2. If the ad gets taken down, then the controversy around it definitely doesn’t help Bailey.

    (Of course, helping Bailey is only a secondary goal for Proft.)

  3. ==A person was robbed in broad daylight. Maybe have a post that asks “how can this be solved?” ==

    Because the people running the ad absolutely do not care about solving the problem.

  4. So Proft is lying when he states the same video is on NBC’s site and is lying when he states it is the same video aired in their newscasts.

    I think opposite occurs, censorship of speech usually attracts more attention item being censored, especially if the censor appears hypocritical. Bailey seems to be winning the free media war over the last few weeks. If this ads jump starts a Statewide discussion on crime, then Bailey wins unless JB has a great response up his sleeve.

  6. Until the victim asks for a cease and desist, this is all noise.

  7. ==Until the victim asks for a cease and desist, this is all noise. ==

    Actually, to the extent that the TV stations are taking down the ads on their own, it’s a lack of noise.

  8. === Why is the discussion always about the politics of the situation and never about the problem itself. A person was robbed in broad daylight. Maybe have a post that asks “how can this be solved?” ==

    I think this would be a more legit question if the ad asked that vs just trying to scare people.

  9. ===Why is the discussion always about the politics of the situation===

    That’s adorable.

    Choosing a white female victim in the ad… *is* the politics.

    The fact you seemingly can’t grasp that, when there is likely video of a POC victim that can be found…

    It says more about you than any alleged confusion you seem to have.

  10. wait, what? they altered this one too? so glad it was taken off that channel. every time it is on I am speechless with anger at them for not asking her permission to put it up. there is a line. and they have crossed it.

  12. “Why is the discussion always about the politics of the situation and never about the problem itself.”

    Let’s discuss. Many Republicans are running for a state office. They all voted to stave the state budget this year. They want law enforcement supposedly but don’t want to pay for anything. They are the queens and kings of free stuff.

  13. Does anyone want to hazard a guess on the percentage of remote control MUTE buttons that are pushed when that ad comes on?

    Comment by Streator Curmudgeon Wednesday, Sep 14, 22 @ 11:29 am

  14. Not one thought about there being no consent from the victim. Doubt she okayed having her screams altered and blasted all over TV for a racist political commercial. All the other women who were assaulted do not need that fuel for an instant panic attack either. Has Dan Proft never heard of PTSD?

  15. Other than putting a cop on every block, which people would claim is too expensive and amounts to a police state, what realistic option is there to eliminate all muggings? And muggings are not a new thing; video of them is.

    I disagree. If the video is meant to be viewed by the public by that stations consumers, than this ad is only expanding that viewership and it should be welcomed.

    This screams of bias.

    Use the Google key and read about “context”

    ===This screams of bias.===

    It’s bias to put it in a context of political points, not news.

  18. ==This screams of bias.==

    The news stations didn’t alter the audio for maximum dramatic effect.

    Comment by Big Dipper Wednesday, Sep 14, 22 @ 2:52 pm

  19. Of course, the media probably chose to air this video for exactly the same reason that Bailey did– it fires off the basic anti-black racism that underlies American culture. Of course, BOTH Bailey and NBC ran this because we are set up to care a lot about young white women being preyed on by black men. Attention gained, now let me sell you some soap/candidate…
