Look in the mirror, newspaper execs. One of the big problems is you. You’re surrounded by dramatic, earth-shattering industry change, your core numbers are dropping by double digits, and you’re all still working off the same old, boring playbook.

  1. Re: Assault Rifles to cops

I’ve lived in Chicago all my life in both the poorest and more affluent areas…

… And never have I heard or saw the need for assault rifles in the hands of police officers.

That’s a pretty scary idea. Reminds me of some futuristic sci-fi flick.

    Not cool, Jody Weis.

  3. I have already been warned by Capt Fax that I cannot offer a medical diagnosis for Sen. Belch’s Chicago Tonight performance. Too bad, it was a very thoughtful and could explain a lot.
Needless to say “no more TV” should be the clue in her fortune cookie.
Don’t ya wanna know what she was prepared to rip on Molaro about if he had sided with the F Bros.?
Hopefully someone will fill us in on post game moments when the spectacle ended.

  4. In regards to Squis article about Law Schools and lack of distance education, your reference to CA misses a critical point. CA has a lot more relaxed rules then IL, and they have a much larger fail rate on the Bar examine :) You may want to consider adding in the point that the bar examine is supposed to be the primary process, and perhaps serves as sufficient safe guard.

That sad, I think that a portion of legal studies requires in personem contact and interaction with teachers. The practice of law is not just about what you know from a book, it is also the exposure to the withering upfron examination of a professor. That is practice which can not be simulated via a computer or distance learning.

  5. That quote in How low can you go? (the last column item) could apply to the state GOP as well.
