Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D) showed up to Chicago’s annual Pride Parade Sunday ready to party—even at one point catching a Jell-O shot tossed his way by an onlooker and downing the alcoholic gelatin dessert in one gulp.

Equality Illinois hosted a pre-parade VIP event during which Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin spoke about LGBTQ+ plus rights, along with Gov. J.B. Pritzker and First Lady of Illinois M.K. Pritzker.
“All I have to say is more glitter, less Twitter,” M.K. Pritzker said.
“This was a protest march many years ago, and it’s evolved into sort of a combination so very very proud to be here every time and proud to be with Equality Illinois,” Gov. Pritzker added.
* The state’s First Lady wore no ordinary t-shirt. “More Glitter, Less Twitter” is from UK-based designer Ashish Gupta and is currently on display at the William Morris Gallery…

The social media Alexi has reinforces the persona, not the office, not the policies, not even the politics… the responses to that tweet take away so much from what should be the message.

No substance. All headlines.
People think it’s fun now…when the first scandals start bubbling up because of mismanagement, it’s all going to look goofy and ridiculous.
One of the main reasons he lost in 2010 (in my opinion) is that he only focused on himself and no one knew what he stood for. I’m not seeing that much has changed over his ten years in exile on the beach…

When I saw the Gov doing the shot, first thing I thought of his security detail was probably not thrilled with him consuming it and why did something thrown at the Gov get close enough to him to grab it?

@Spoon- big differences between shock and Alexi. Shock voted against LGBTQ rights and denied his own sexuality for many years. Shock would never walk in the PRIDE parade. Give Alexi credit for that.
On scandals they are equal though.

I assumed he swapped it out … maybe not. Or was it all planned? C’mon we need some intrepid investigative reporters. Because yeah, I would not down something someone randomly hurled at me on the Parade route, either. But maybe I am lesser than the great Khan’s digestive system.

Watched much of the parade on TV and didn’t see any Republicans. Somebody mentioned somewhere that Republican governors used to support LGBTQ+. Clearly today, with the loss of the suburbs/collars, that couldn’t be possible. There is no reconciliation between moderate suburbanites and downstate. A candidate palatable to suburbanites is a RINO to others.

Complete hogwash, the highest ranking openly gay US official to hold federal office is former director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell.
He was appointed in 2020 and served as a member of President Trump’s cabinet.

ONE guy who didn’t have to stand for election in a GOP primary was put in a job that 99% of Americans can’t name the person holding that job. Also he was in the roll from February to May, also he was just “acting”. He never made it to appointed because of, why?

I don’t get the Alexi-hate here. It’s a parade, it’s supposed to be fun! Even when Jesse held the office he went to the parades and flashed that gorgeous smile. It’s not the time to discuss modernizing the office or the streamlined method of getting appointments.
