  1. Revenue does not pay what it owes, lies and hides facts…hmmm sounds like someone is headed for some hard time.

  2. “they didn’t know pre-payments were illegal” Oh that’s comforting! Now the question is, what other laws are they unaware of?!?!

  3. I am sorry but it is the responsibilty of are governments whether Federal, State or Local to understand and follow the statutes that govern them. There is NO excuse for this on any level. An employee in private sector that had had a job performance like the Revenue department is sjhowing would be fired in a heart beat.

  4. Injustice Scalia says his views are similar to Abe Lincoln’s? I wonder if Scalia is auditioning for the next season of Last Comic Standing with with that one!

  5. Falsifying documents at Revenue? Somebody made a terrible choice. More to come on this?

  6. When it comes to the dept of revenue I always find it interesting that the IRS manages to deposit my check about 2~3 weeks before the state does, even though I send them on the same day.

    Thanks for the float!

  7. ==Agencies that don’t spend their entire budget risk not getting as much money the following year.==
I think this is the majority of our fiscal problem.

  8. Hmmm…this didn’t happen over at Revenue until the place was reformed, renewed, and consolidated.

Comment by Arthur Andersen Wednesday, May 21, 08 @ 9:16 am

  9. Every city, County and Village budgets to collect sales taxes and spend them in a timely fashion. The State collects the sales taxes including the locality’s one to one point five percent. It is not State money. Some of it has been pldged for security on Bond issues.

When the State cannot timely either account for or without delay distribute the money it is in effect borrowing the locality’s revenue at zero interest.

    Anybody smell something wrong here?
