Ghost, the Olympic dream of Chicago needs to die. It’s gonna cost us an arm, a leg, and a torso as well. Think about the the actors in this play for a moment - the IOC, Daley, Blagojevich. This is a taxpayers’ worst nightmare.

Don’t worry about Chicago’s Olympic chances. After all, a good hunk of the IOC members are petty tyrants themselves, and thus have a certain bonding with one of their own kind, like Mayor Daley. (Most of the rest are drooling over the prospect of pigging out on Chicago’s food, a probable reaction to the years of forced dietary habits while they were actual athletic competitors.)

Fed-up Dem, if the IOC didn’t mind giving the Olympics to China (a definite medal contender in official corruption and one-party control) they should have no problem with Chicago.

What a shocker - the Chicago bottled water tax is coming up far short of reveneue estimates. Let’s see. A Chicago resident who wants to avoid this silly tax now goes out to the burbs to buy his bottled water by the case from their Costco. While there, the same Chicago resident now also buys a carload of other stuff that he normally would have bought in the city, worsening the city’s tax revenue loss. Of course, no one saw this coming (except for the neighboring suburbs that were grinning when the tax passed knowing that it would be a sales tax windfall for them).

Wind, solar, hydro, geothermal, tidal, plasma arc gasification, etc. The problem that most people had with the THIRD coal-fired power plant in Will County, which would be one of the biggest, was that Indeck simply refused to use best available technology, as they are required to by law. If they’re not willing to even explore the possibility of integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) then the people of Will County have no duty to allow them to import pollution so that they can export energy out of the state for a profit.
