Must-listen audio

* From WUIS Radio

Near the end of a [1993] legislative session…tempers become short and frustration sets in. The frustration level seems to be highest among freshmen. Some say they were naive in expecting to be included in the end of session negotiations. WSSU’s Mary McNeil talks with freshmen representatives…including Rod Blagojevich.

WUIS looked for that recording after a Capitol Fax commenter mentioned the interview yesterday. Listen by clicking here.

  3. It appears the WUIS streaming server is overloaded at the moment. They’ve probably reached their user limit with their host streamguys.net with the impeachment proceedings.

  6. Wow - Mary Carlin McNeil got a great scoop back in 1993. Gives great insight into the roots of the Blagojevich perspective about the Speaker.

  8. For those who can’t get the audio, Milorod says he is so frustrated that the Speaker, President of Senate, the two Minority leaders, and GASP!! the Governor are controlling all the legislation.

    wah! It’s not fair.

  9. It should be working now. Make sure you refresh(ctrl+shift+R)so your cached version isn’t loaded. Sorry for the hassle.

  10. Ironic, that when he has all the power it seems more fair. Remember he was going to Move Illinois Forward and end the culture of corruption.

    Wasn’t there a great back and forth between Blago and George Ryan when Ryan’s portrait was unveiled in 2003 ? I’d love to see some of those prescient quotes.

  11. Milller, ye shall become prominant (i.e. big time), and therein is ye “good” and “bad”. Your strength shall become your weakness….and so it goes. Beware of what ye ask for….

  12. The Blagojevich quote pales in comparison to the following comments by Al Salvi and the alleged influence of the asphalt industry. Salvi’s bill was supposed to be called, yet disappeared from the House Calendar. Speaker Madigan’s response: “That happens sometimes, Mr. Salvi.”

    That, ladies and gentleman, is, in a nutshell, Illinois politics in one sentance. Classic.
