  3. He tried to tell us, and we didn’t listen. Well, I listened. I voted Green in 06, but enough of us didn’t listen.

  4. Has anyone noticed that the hair has gotten bigger and more overpowering since ‘06? Perhaps the hair conceals a space alien who has taken control of the body of our governor…. That would explain a few things

  5. personally i voted for him in 06 so he would be openly investigted

  9. Rich, I don’t think you should play defense exhibits for the Impeachment Trial on here!

  11. Shows to go ya! Be careful what you say on tape. It never really goes away.

Comment by zatoichi Tuesday, Jan 13, 09 @ 1:59 pm

  12. I voted for him in 06 for the simple the lessons I learned from my Grandfather. Politicians may all be corrupt but the Dwmocrat will always do something for the common man while Republicans will not. Also, Republicans like dogs hate people.

Comment by the ole precinct captain Tuesday, Jan 13, 09 @ 2:00 pm

  13. That’s not a Superman, pose, man. That there’s an Elvis pose, got it? C’mon Red, c’mon Sonny. Let’s go get us sum fried peanut butter. Doin’ the people’s business here. Thank you, thank you ver’ much.

  14. I stand, not in a Superman pose, but corrected. Well done anan, I totally agree.

  15. What better way to hide the truth than to tell it!

Comment by Tony Tuesday, Jan 13, 09 @ 2:08 pm

  16. What choice did we have in ‘06? Two candidates with questionable associations (Blagojevich under investigation, Topinka who had once been investigated and who was tight with Ryan), each with questionable leadership skills (the first Blagojevich term, the Alan Keyes fiasco), both with bad hairdos.

Comment by Anita Tuesday, Jan 13, 09 @ 2:24 pm

  17. ===Topinka who had once been investigated and who was tight with Ryan===

Apparently, you bought the hype. Nothing came of that probe, and she wasn’t any tighter with Ryan than many Democrats were. Plus, his crimes pale in comparison to RRB’s misdeeds.

Comment by Rich Miller Tuesday, Jan 13, 09 @ 2:26 pm

  18. === What choice did we have in ‘06? ===
You’re forgetting Whitney. He did receive 10.4% which is impressive for a third party.

  19. Whatever happened to our regular Greenie commenter?

Comment by Rich Miller Tuesday, Jan 13, 09 @ 2:32 pm

  20. Rich, he lost the election and had to get a real job.

    Comment by A Citizen Tuesday, Jan 13, 09 @ 2:50 pm

  21. Wasn’t that Squideshi ?

    Comment by A Citizen Tuesday, Jan 13, 09 @ 2:53 pm

  22. Yes. The Squid hasn’t posted in quite a while.

Comment by Rich Miller Tuesday, Jan 13, 09 @ 2:58 pm

  23. I totally agree with Rich. Anita, you completely fell for the Blago hype. You and the other people who were too lazy to look beyond all those ads got what you deserved by voting for Blago. By that I mean a crumbling infrastucture, health care providers going under because the state won’t pay them, cash starved schools, Illinois being ridiculed around the world and last but certainly not least….Senator Burris. Good Job!!

Comment by kidder Tuesday, Jan 13, 09 @ 2:59 pm

  24. Also, Anita, JBT strenuously opposed the Keyes appointment but was narrowly overruled by members of the state central committee.

As far as the hair, well…. whatever.

Comment by Rich Miller Tuesday, Jan 13, 09 @ 3:02 pm

  25. I’ve, too, noticed the hair is looking a bit shabby these past weeks.

Comment by Little Egypt Tuesday, Jan 13, 09 @ 3:28 pm

  26. This is a nice little clip, but surely someone out there can edit this clip into something more substantial. I’m disappointed in the video people on this front.

Perhaps he felt the computer adds to greenhouse gases?

Comment by OneMan Tuesday, Jan 13, 09 @ 4:54 pm

  28. Shouldn’t it be: “I’m the worst %$*#ing person on earth…”???

Comment by If It Walks Like a Duck Tuesday, Jan 13, 09 @ 5:28 pm

  29. His lips were moving and he WASN’T lying! A first.

Comment by Toast Man Tuesday, Jan 13, 09 @ 7:14 pm

  30. What this clip reminds me of is how Rod won by outspending Topinka by several orders of magnitude on TV and radio spots, burying her under a blizzard of lying negative attack ads. The war chest Rod gathered was spent in large part on this, and much of the illicit shenannigans he perpetrated were directly related to raising this money. With that massive ad buy, and his free access to press coverage by staging fake events every day and plastering his name all over state programs, (few of which he actually had anything to do with), he bought a public perception among the mobs of the incurious, the under-informed, the (yes I’ll go there) under-educated lower-classes that don’t read newspapers. At the risk of Godwinning the discussion, he executed a perfect Goebbles PR strategy.

And the TV stations took all his money and said nothing.

If we made campaign commercial air time free and equal to all candidates, we would short-circuit the need to raise such unholy amounts of ad money, and the temptations and illicit access that comes with that big money. I believe that is something broadcasters should do as part of their public trust.

The old saw goes something like; “freedom of the press is only for the guy that can afford a press”. The modern corollary might be: “You’re free to tell the truth, if you can buy the time.”

The current state of affairs is just not right. I would at least like to see the Fairness Doctrine make a comeback.

    ========================

Caught dancing the polka on film with Ryan was some more hype that people obviously bought re: how tight she supposedly was with Ryan.

For those who fell for it, repeat after me…Social (dancing the polka), Business (being a thorn in someone’s side when need be), Social, Business, Social, Business….

Comment by Anonymous Tuesday, Jan 13, 09 @ 8:16 pm

  32. On second thought, maybe “being a thorn” wasn’t the quite right phrase to use. I should have used “hitting someone over the head with a rolling pin” instead.

Honor is due. You go, Girl!

Comment by Anonymous Tuesday, Jan 13, 09 @ 8:18 pm

  33. That “positive” spot for Rod was even more hideous than his negative spots on JBT.

He got a lot of mileage out of the $25,000 Club members just from repetition, but if it makes anyone feel better, whoever “concepted” and produced the spots took Rod for a ride, too.

Cheesy and amateurish. What were they thinking? Easy money from no-taste fools.

Comment by wordslinger Tuesday, Jan 13, 09 @ 11:36 pm

  34. IIRC, Bill told us he was in that commercial.

    I’m not making this up.
