I just wanted to add my thanks, Rich, for all your incredibly hard work over the last two months. As someone commented earlier, you really do have the best interests of the state at heart. I hope you can go back to that beach for a while now!

You can’t go to the Alamo! There’s a new governor to be sworn in, and I suspect he will be up late tonight issuing executive orders. No rest for the weary Rich.
I’m not in Springfield, I need to know what’s going on! I’ll be watching illinois.gov to see how quickly they change the web site.

There is no interim. The Governor is Pat Quinn. He took office when the Chief Justice dropped the gavel.

Sad day; joyous day. Sad for IL; sad for the former gov. & his family; sad watching the security detail leave; he must be very isolated now; but he did bring all this on himself; joyuous if we can only hope for and see better days in IL.

Great job Rich. I’m in Florida and the 1st thing I signed-on to today was your website. I’ve switched back-and-forth between you and ABC Chicago channel 7 and all day. I watched the Senate proceedings live on Channel 7 and read your blog for the inside info. What great coverage you provided!

It really is for the better. I feel for his family. Heck, I even feel for him (social service types, you know.) But fundamentally he was incapable of governing and the GA did its duty.

Thanks for putting your life virtually on hold for the last few months to keep the junkies sated. I can’t imagine what this would have been like without you and your marvelous cast of bloggers.
By the way, the gov’s website has been down at least 15 minutes. Page cannot be found…
