Question of the day

* For the sake of argument, let’s say you know somebody who is writing a book about Rod Blagojevich. What title would you suggest?

Let’s keep it real, by the way. Good suggestions would be appreciated.

  91. The Vanishing Statesmen….

Blago had every opportunity to actually do what he promised to reform & renew. To eliminate corruption, provide for the needy to streamline government…He chose none of that and took an alternate course.

Had he come in and fulfilled his promises he could have been Governor for longer than any Governor. He would have also had an opportunity to fulfill his higher aspirations.

Unfortunately, he chose none of those. Sadly, we all have suffered. Perhaps none more that he and his children will suffer when he is convicted.

His chances to become a true statesmen who could proudly stand within the great history of Lincoln Simon perhaps Edgar & Thompson; that opportunity evaporated in just blink of the eye of history.

Rod Blagojevich: The statesmen who disappeared in a flash.

So terribly sad for him and all of us who deserve so much more from him.

  105. Plastic Soul.

Sounds good on its own, but is also an (admittedly obscure) David Bowie reference. Specifically to his synthetic version of soul music, and the carefully designed and managed pretension that is the essence of his career. Just like Rod, there’s very little genuine about the man’s professional image, and yet his embrace of that pretension is precisely what led to his success. I’m not dissing Bowie, mind…just think there are some interesting professional parallels.

The aforementioned “nothing but sunshine” does better capture his strange disconnect from reality, though…

  204. Yeah. We’ll see how the traffic goes now that Blagojevich has been removed.

Still, traffic is no big deal to me as long as I maintain the eyeballs I need for ads. But one of the things many of those eyeballs tell me they love is reading and posting comments here, so I guess it feeds on itself.
