VanillaMan surfaces

Posted in:

* I’ve often pondered the identity of regular commenter VanillaMan, he of conservative wit and bizarro-good songwriting abilities. A couple of weeks ago, I thought I had figured it out.

I was pretty proud of myself until yesterday, when the “real” VanillaMan showed up to the Illinois 2.0 forum which I helped host. He wasn’t the person I thought he was…

Sorry for the poor pic quality, but we still need to keep his identity a secret. He’s way cuter than his arch-nemesis “Bill,” by the way.

Anyway, VanillaMan is a good guy and we had a very enjoyable conversation. He also got to meet a few other regulars from the blog, so I think he had a lot of fun as well.

* Thanks to all for showing up yesterday. We had a great crowd and the audience participation made the program far more interesting and informative - kinda like the comments here.

Not Hardly. He does look like a male, however.

  2. Rich -

Whether they come from the “Left” or the “Wrong”, CapFax attracts the Best of the Best.

“If you build it, They will come.”

  3. VanMan, and the aura that surrounds him, appear jaundiced. Please take care of yourself!

  4. Actually, that isn’t such a bad photo.

I expected to be driven from the room like Gulliver fighting off the Lilliputians, but I was pleasantly surprised. There was only that one guy who ran screaming and slapped a perfumed hankie in my face and cry out, “Posh on you, sir! I SAID POSH! You, and your hairy chested Neanderthal followers! You cut me to the quick, VanillaMan, and I shan’t say I would find you a pleasant companion to spend an evening with my friends! You, you - parochial balloteer!”

I didn’t catch his name, but I’d like to know the name of that perfume he was wearing to buy a bottle for VanillaWife.

  5. Rich, I defer to you on issues political. But are you really an expert on male cuteness? Hmmmm.

  6. From the way the pic looks, it seems there is nothing but sunshine hanging over V-Man ;-)

  7. After you, Rich, Vanilla Man is always my favorite. He always seems to know the right way to say things. If he were a lawyer, I’d hire him in a minute. If he is a politician, I’d work for him in a heartbeat. As a married Vanilla Man, I’m content. Vanilla Wife is a lucky lady.

  8. Awright, awright!
    Vanilla This!

  9. The photo also conceals the unsightly scar from that unfortunate frontal lobe procedure.

  10. Love, Love, Love Vanilla Man! In my poor man’s view he is virtually 100% spot on.

  11. Anon 10:01 is me. Don’t know why my handle didn’t show up.

Does a hunter ever imagine being the buck? Of course he does! Because part of the love of hunting is the love and admiration he has towards his prey. I admire lawyers and politicians. Like a hunter, I love, admire and respect those I hunt, kill, and eat. Then I mount their racks over my fireplace mantel and fashion kid’s clothes out of their soft plush hides.

Where would we be without lawyers and politicians? I would be a whole lot hungrier and a lousy bowhunter. I would be out wandering the Loop probably hanging around Lower Wacker and doing part-time work for ACORN or something. I would weigh about 150 pounds, be an Ovolactovegetarian, and drive a Prius. I would wear organic hemp underwear and scratch all the time.

Thank you lawyers and politicians! God bless some of you, and help the rest!

Yeah, but I’m the one you think had a lobotomy.

  19. Cuter than Bill. What a backhanded compliment.

  20. Same here, John. Blogging can bridge ideologies and build needed friendships in times like these.

He would until he figures out that being cute means no more lonely nights.

  22. What a treat. Vanilla Man is my favorite. He reads my mind and says it the way I can’t. Thank you all for keeping me informed and entertained.

  23. Darn it, I was there and I missed him! But then again, male cuteness doesn’t do much for me. Listening to Rich tell it like it is, on the other hand, was quite entertaining.
