Nice to see the cubs crap the bed twice at home. The worst fans in sports deserve every minute of it.

  2. - TRN - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 11:30 am:

Forget baseball, what about that pic of the governor!!??

  3. - One hand //ing - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 11:33 am:

Is this actually a Halloween picture or is Rauner just going to walk in a downstate parade?

  4. - Supernintendo chalmers - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 11:34 am:

Move over Morton, I think we just found the new number one provider of salt…

  5. - LizPhairTax - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 11:34 am:

Not up on my superheroes. “SS” stand for social services? Look out little girl, you bouts to get cut!

  6. - @MisterJayEm - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 11:35 am:

    “Trick or Treat!”

“Sorry, kids. Nobody is getting anything until I score some wins for my Turn Around agenda.”

    “Huh?”

“Look — come back after I get term limits and tort reform.”

Enough with the thumbs up, Bruce. Jeez, enough!

  8. - Jose Abreu's next homer - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 11:38 am:

I really thought Rizzo had hit a HR to center field until the CFer came in about 20 feet to catch it when it was only hit 220 ft. Not every fly ball is going to be a HR.

  9. - Dr X - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 11:40 am:

    Wasn’t Woody a leader?

  10. - AlfondoGonz - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 11:41 am:

I have had more Joe Buck and Bruce Rauner than I am able to handle.

  11. - Wensicia - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 11:41 am:

“That snake in my boot? It’s Madigan.”

  12. - Grand Avenue - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 11:52 am:

Rauner looks healthier - in the depths of the budget fight he was very gaunt. He must be seeing some good polling numbers.

  13. - AC - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 11:56 am:

“Somebody’s poisoned the waterhole!” - Woody, also a description of the toxic relationship between Rauner and Madigan

“This town ain’t big enough for the two of us.”. - Woody, also Rauner’s thoughts on Madigan

“There’s a snake in my boot!” - Woody, and also Rauner until his system made the adjustment to Stag

“You’re my favorite deputy!” - Woody, also Rauner to Munger

  14. - Postbot 6000 - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 11:59 am:

Seems the cub fans are awfully quiet these days. They would rather make silly comments about a halloween costume.

  15. - Annonin' - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 12:00 pm:

Speakin’f BigBrain has anyone asked him about the 2016 tax return? Final deadline for filing was 10-17 anyone see the paperwork or did he quit doin’ releases. Also anythin’ new on the Rauner Family Foundation? Trackin’ site seems to have lost them too.
Very Trumpish. BTW he could hand out the 2016 returns because those are not under audit — yet

  16. - Anon221 - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 12:00 pm:

also not sure what the SS stands for… take on Suicide Squad crossed with Supergirl somehow???

    On the Cubbie side… enjoy:)

  17. - Grand Avenue - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 12:02 pm:

I have a feeling all the ads won’t stop after the election. They won’t mention specific candidates, but I think Rauner/Griffin/U-Line will just keep on running anti-Madigan ads until November 2018.

  18. - Grand Avenue - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 12:06 pm:

Because of all the anti-Madigan sentiment Rauner & friends intend to inculcate in the electorate, they should probably try to find a serious AG candidate, with the hopes the Michael albatross sinks Lisa. Not likely, but worth a shot.

  19. - Responsa - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 12:07 pm:

I’m glad the Cubs pulled it off last night to give their fans something to cheer about and to assure that the rest of us baseball fans will have at least one, if not two more nights of baseball watching before the long cold winter. But geez guys! What happened to the vaunted Cubs offense? That was way too close a game score to instill confidence that there are two more Cub wins in the making.

  20. - illinoised - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 12:11 pm:

He must have Texas in queue to buy next. Before you know it he will start every sentence with “Y’all.”

  21. - HRC2016 - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 12:13 pm:

Seems the cub fans are awfully quiet these days. They would rather make silly comments about a halloween costume.

As a Chicago sports fan with no allegiance to any particular ballclub, I will say this about the picture of Rauner. He is a phony baloney politician who has only learned to take photo ops and still doesn’t know jack about governing. Governor Rauner, stop pretending you care about
any of us, you only care about beating Madigan and pushing your TA agenda.

  22. - Jocko - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 12:13 pm:

What district will “SS” be representing? Instead of candy, it looks like her Goodie Bag is filled with IPI oppo research and GOP checks.

  23. - Cable Line Beer Gardener - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 12:18 pm:

    What cowboy wears cufflinks?

  24. - HRC2016 - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 12:20 pm:

    And Happy Halloween everyone!

Governor, can’t wait til the DEMS use this picture as literature for your election against you.

  25. - Rich Miller - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 12:22 pm:

    Hadn’t noticed the cufflinks. Hilarious.

  26. - James the Intolerant - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 12:24 pm:

Bob Dernier, Chip Caray and Lou provide some of the worst analysis I have ever seen.

  27. - Cheryl44 - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 12:31 pm:

Who is that poor child and can we help her get away from him?

  28. - City Zen - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 12:35 pm:

So Madigan would be “Lotso” from Toy Story 3.

  29. - Blue dog dem - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 12:36 pm:

The Gov, definetly. His wife, yea fair game. Kids. Tasteless.

  30. - Casual observer - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 12:38 pm:

Look, he’s been successful at everything he’s done. He made some risky bets. He won some and lost some and paid the price. But one thing is certain…Pete Rose is a genius.

  31. - Albany Park Patriot - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 12:40 pm:

What a totally ordinary guy. A real common man.

  32. - Grandson of Man - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 12:41 pm:

If the Cubs can only start manufacturing runs, moving over base runners, swinging at hittable pitches…

Anyone can win a two-game series. Here’s hoping the Cleveland pitching staff has a few bad games. They’re only human.

  33. - AC - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 12:42 pm:

==Who is that poor child and can we help her get away from him?==

Parents: Protect your children so this doesn’t happen to them, remember to place an AFSCME or SEIU sticker on their costume before they go out trick or treating.

  34. - Steve Rogers - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 12:43 pm:

Trying to figure out whether this is a Cubs thread or a Rauner photo thread. Or perhaps six degrees of separation game? Here goes, the first lady is Jessie. Jessie is voiced by Joan Cusack. Joan Cusack is the brother of John Cusack. John Cusack is a big Cubs fan.

  35. - HRC2016 - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 12:44 pm:

    CUFFLINKS? CUFFLINKS?

    Are you serious?

    CUFFLINKS. CUFFLINKS.

  36. - The Dude Abides - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 12:47 pm:

Just another make believe costume by Governor Carhartt.

  37. - crazybleedingheart - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 12:47 pm:

The Rauners give SuperStar her raise.

  38. - jade me not - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 12:48 pm:

When asked what he does in his free time, the Governor replied “When I’m not pretending to be a real-life cowboy, I dress up as a cartoon cowboy”.

  39. - AC - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 12:58 pm:

Rauner isn’t dressed up as Woody, that’s just the costume he wears when he’s patronizing the locals out in Montana and Wyoming when he’s visiting his 23000 acre ranch.

  40. - Jackie - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 1:01 pm:

Awesome. Let’s make fun of doing something nice for kids. Blogs are the coolest.

  41. - Sam Weinberg - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 1:06 pm:

Pretty nice coronation you’ve got there, be a shame if something happened to it.

    - The Cleveland Indians

At this point, I’m amazed MLB even let my Tribe play the games. Can’t wait for 1-2 more games of Buck’s Schwarb-gasims. Should be a real treat.

  42. - Ron Burgundy - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 1:09 pm:

–John Cusack is a big Cubs fan.–

That is, when he’s not a big Sox fan.

  43. - @MisterJayEm - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 1:17 pm:

“Let’s make fun of doing something nice for kids.”

You mean using yet another kid as a photo prop? Gimmie a break.

But if the Governor of Illinois ever does do “something nice for kids”? I’m sure Rich will let you know.

    – MrJM

  44. - Anon221 - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 1:17 pm:

Go to 10-27-16, Halloween at the Dept of Ag. wonder why he didn’t “dress-up” then???

  45. - Johnnie F. - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 1:18 pm:

Must be nice to be Social Service Girl from Ounce of Prevention. Social Service Girl wannabes from all the other service organizations don’t have funding for costumes and treats. They just get tricked by Mr. & Mrs. Rauner.

  46. - Porgy Tirebiter - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 1:24 pm:

1 Native American headdress and his one-man homage to the Village People is finally completed!

  47. - Amalia - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 2:04 pm:

I stumbled onto a tiny bit of Cubs radio last Wednesday night and the announcers are awful!

Halloween note, what is the scariest sight for a Cubs fan….Jobu!

  48. - wordslinger - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 3:02 pm:

Gov. and Mrs. Rauner and friend pose in front of the pounds of flesh they’ve ripped out the state’s social service infrastructure and higher ed system.

  49. - Nobody Sent - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 3:06 pm:

Sheriff Rauner arrests the villain SS (Social Services). But despite his cartoonish posse of superstars, the notorious AFSCME continues to evade him.

  50. - 47 Chief - Monday, Oct 31, 16 @ 6:16 pm:

This photo proves what we have known all along - that deep down, Bruce Rauner is just a big Woody.
