Personal PAC planning newspaper ad claiming Gov. Rauner and First Lady “lied”

* I’ve already briefed subscribers on this HB40 topic and will likely have more on Monday morning. In the meantime, Personal PAC will soon be running full-page newspaper ads across the state slamming the governor and Mrs. Rauner and demanding Gov. Rauner sign HB40. Click here for a larger image

* The group is currently recruiting signers…

Dear Pro-Choice Supporter,

On April 25, 2014 and October 14, 2014, Diana and Bruce Rauner lied to their friends, colleagues and neighbors. The Rauners also lied to you and every voter in Illinois by stating that they supported HB 40. Now is the time to stand up and publicly call on the Rauners to keep their 2014 promise to protect reproductive rights for the women of Illinois.

We are placing a full-page ad in newspapers across the state, including the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times, Daily Herald, North Shore town publications and others, signed by supporters LIKE YOU to urge Governor Rauner to immediately sign HB 40 as it was passed by the Illinois General Assembly. Please join people from every corner of Illinois by signing up now to have your name listed on the ad (see attached for the actual ad). We want to place the first ads on Monday October 2nd, so time is of the essence.

Bruce and Diana Rauner Lied To Us!
(HIGH RESOLTION PHOTO OF THE RAUNERS HERE)

In 2014, Bruce and Diana Rauner promised that as Governor he would SIGN EVERY PROVISION OF HB 40

BUT In April 2017 Governor Rauner PLEDGED TO VETO HB 40.

On April 25, 2014 then candidate for Governor Bruce Rauner stated in writing:

“As Governor, I will work to ensure equal access to contraception and abortion services…I dislike the Illinois law that restricts abortion coverage under the state Medicaid plan and state employees’ health insurance because it unfairly restricts access based on income. I would support a legislative effort to reverse this law.”

On October 14, 2014 Diana Rauner took out a full-page ad in the Chicago Tribune stating:

“Supporters of reproductive rights should be thrilled that both the Republican and Democratic candidates are pro-choice.”

BUT On April 14, 2017 Governor Rauner said he would VETO HB 40.

We call on Governor Rauner to keep his 2014 written promise to the voters of Illinois and immediately sign HB 40 exactly as it passed the Illinois General Assembly.

P.S. A financial contribution is NOT REQUIRED to add your name to this ad. If you would like to assist with the enormous cost of placing the ad in newspapers across Illinois, you can do so by [etc.]

See Sunday 9/24/17 Chicago Sun-Times editorial here: “Governor, sign the bill” http://chicago.suntimes.com/opinion/editorial-quit-playing-politics-with-illinois-abortion-rights/

The target date to place the ads is a week from Monday.

* You’ll recall that Mrs. Rauner paid for a full-page newspaper ad in the Tribune during the 2014 campaign to declare that her husband was pro-choice. It was signed by dozens of people. Click here for that ad. So, this new Personal PAC ad is apparently designed to remind people of that 2014 ad and impose a little political pain in the process.

And it’ll be even more painful if anyone who signed Mrs. Rauner’s ad back then ends up signing this new one.

Rauner lied? In other news, the sun came up in the east.

Unions might want to send out a similar reminder to members about Rauner’s claim in the last weeks of the campaign that he wouldn’t pursue an anti-union agenda as governor.

Personal PAC has an interesting approach to “encouragement”.

===Personal PAC has an interesting approach to “encouragement”===

If Bruce and Diana Rauner think that misleading a whole state with utter phoniness won’t go unnoticed, PersonalPAC is encouraging them to stop being so phony and just admit they “lied”, veto HB40, and see what happens.

If the RaunerS think its a bluff, then…

Personal PAC, the conscience of our state…/s

If that’s the case, we don’t have a conscience.

Terry Cosgrove is a piece of work. The argument is a tautology.

The bill has not been sent to the Governor yet.

HB 40 is problematic because it assumes something that has yet to occur. Roe v. Wade has not been overturned.

    =If that’s the case, we don’t have a conscience.=

The first thing people do when they cannot counter an argument with facts is to attack/diminish the messenger.

Not sure if that was your intent here but the fact remains that Diana Rauner did take out a full page add and the Rauner’s were very public about being pro-choice. That is not a typical conservative/GOP position but they went with it and it helped win the election.

I don’t think anyone can dispute that fact. That the messenger is not someone that you agree with is inconvenient sometimes, but in this case the message is true and their is an almost certain consequence for the Rauner’s canard.

Spot on, Terry Cosgrove, spot on.

    What? No. Wrong.

It eliminates the provision that says Illinois defaults to abortion being illegal were it to ever be overturned. Though apparently it’s debatable whether that provision would have legal force, there’s really nothing wrong with striking it from our books. Nothing in HB40 assumes or requires the assumption that Roe is overturned. Don’t know why that’s “problematic”.

Sorry JS, Never had any use for this messenger or his message. Cosgrove is more than a messenger anyway. He’s an author pretty regularly. A dishonest one. You want to ride that train go ahead.

Cosgrove calling someone else a liar is rich. Not surprising, just rich. Wasn’t fond of Diana’s ad. Not fond of the Governor’s indecisiveness now after committing to veto this lousy bill. Goad me into defending him…don’t think so.

    ==Roe v. Wade has not been overturned==

Not yet. Ohio is trying to bar abortions when prenatal testing is positive for Down Syndrome.

  11. - Oswego Willy - Monday, Sep 25, 17 @ 12:23 pm:

Who is Diana Rauner laughing at?

    Me? You? Illinois?

Bruce is having the best time of his life, as Bruce says, “Diana says”.

    Why is Diana laughing?

Is it because up to the IPI folks and those 350+ emails, she had a whole state fooled?

This ad is about holding accountable Rauner campaign ad designed to possibly fool suburban women, with Diana’s brand, to win an election.

It’s an ad like this that might save HB40

    We’ll see

Thanks Rich for the link making it so easy to sign.

  13. - Cosgrove - Monday, Sep 25, 17 @ 2:44 pm:

FYI. HB 40 is now on Rauner’s desk so he can stop claiming he doesn’t know anything about the 12 sentences it deletes from the statute.

  14. - JS Mill - Monday, Sep 25, 17 @ 4:58 pm:

    =Goad me into defending him…don’t think so.=

Yikes, if You think that was goading. I was gentle. The train I try to ride? There is no train service where I live. I try to stick with facts to the extent I can. Even when they come from a distasteful source. Sometimes we have to acpet the truth even when it comes from one of these sources. That was my point. Instead you decide to get all sensitive.

It was a weak moment, I’ll go back to ignoring you.
