To show up, proudly, and be a candidate with a crew that did the heavy work to help get you on the ballot, that’s really cool stuff. Much respect. Also, I glance thru the releases for that small but very significant tidbit “all 102 counties” for the statewides. For me, it’s one thing to have an effective and efficient Crew, it’s another to fully grasp and understand that “all 102 counties” is the inclusive language of a campaign saying “we want all to know we know you are out there”. Big props, I look every time for it. The cast of characters, be they young staff and crew, to the “Jackonettys” that find their way to help file, knowing only but half of their own work might be done, and the combing and challenging begins soon enough. Putting your name on a ballot and stand for election at anything, governor or library board, that’s a big deal. You are allowing your fellow citizens to make a decision and you are allowing yourself to be judged, measured, and decided on.
