    “Cowards. Get back to work”

    My bet is May 26th.

How easy it is from the cheap seats.

If you’ve listened to the Governors’ conference, he’s been rather lukewarm to the idea of session starting. He says it’s up to them, but then he wonders out loud how all of them can be in the same place safely. So I wouldn’t call any of them cowards. I’d call them modeling appropriate caution.

Like when they allowed a Primary Election to go forth during a Global Pandemic?

There were 250-some cases then. And no deaths. And moving an election is a huge undertaking. But keep it up; maybe someday you’ll hit something real.

Can you imagine if it was scheduled for next Tuesday?

Right now, the last couple days with the latest deaths recorded…

    I could hear it now…

    “Postpone”… again

I do appreciate, no snark, that you lay the blame on the legislature. Sincerely, good on you.

I live in Springfield and work in the Stratton Building. I don’t work for the legislature. Lots of people working in the Capitol Complex don’t work for the legislature. You realize of course that bringing hundreds of people (some loudly opposed to masks and social distancing) from around the state to a confined space, raises my chance of being exposed to COVID-19? Keeps me up at night.

Sangamo Girl, I am empathetic to your plight. We have people that are concerned to come back in the office and they are all from the surrounding 20 miles. Your concern is much different and valid. Our warehouse folks have not had the “luxury” of working from home like the office. But, really, in all of this, it is personal. Stay Well!

The conditions don’t exist to open the capitol at this point. I think that was part of the reasons why the IDPH issued their guidelines yesterday. Some of which went beyond public health and discussed how legislating would have to occur. They provided the talking points and cover to establish that we aren’t in a position to hold the spring session - yet.

  15. - Chatham Resident - Friday, May 8, 20 @ 9:13 am:

    Sangamo Girl,

A serious suggestion I had made yesterday in the IDPH GA guidelines was that if June GA sessions are needed, to just have them meet on weekends only (with Father’s Day a possible exception). If the plan for Capitol Complex-based employees to return to work June 1 or thereabouts still occurs.
