Iirc, it was after Madigan made Saviano’s “support”’of Madigan for Speaker an issue in Skippy’s defeat that those acclaimation votes ended. Imagine that. MJM funded mailers that took Saviano to task by voting for .. Madigan. Madigan didn’t care, he just wanted Skip gone. Skip didn’t help himself tho authorizing those billboards after Madigsn had made him a committee chair. Anyway, you can forget any Republican House member now voting for Madigan for Speaker. It would mean the announcement of a primary challenge the next day. Surely, GOP House members are aware of that. 10 - 20 years ago it might not have meant such a challenge.
