Although I have given up trapping, I still get out in the outdoors. Was amazed what one of my trail cameras picked up. A mountain lion.

  2. - Flyin' Elvis'-Utah Chapter - Thursday, Feb 18, 21 @ 7:10 am:

    “a mountain lion”

IDNR has vociferously denied their existence in Illinois for years now.
However, ask any hunter in southern Illinois if we have them.
    You’ll get a different answer.

  3. - Flyin' Elvis'-Utah Chapter - Thursday, Feb 18, 21 @ 7:11 am:

Any day you’re upright and taking nourishment is a wonderful day.

  4. - Dog Lover - Thursday, Feb 18, 21 @ 7:36 am:

The sun is shining. It was above zero when I got up. It’s double digit temp right now. I have a lot to be thankful for. Have a good day.

  5. - PublicServant - Thursday, Feb 18, 21 @ 7:43 am:

The only thing we have to fear…

    How much time ya got?

  6. - Frumpy White Guy - Thursday, Feb 18, 21 @ 8:10 am:

President Biden announced that due to production issues there will be a substantial delay in vaccines. I’m still wondering if State Representative Dan Didech was able to get his vaccination. He really was quite vocal and insistent on getting vaccinated early.

  7. - Al - Thursday, Feb 18, 21 @ 8:27 am:

    Dear Blue Dog, what County?

  8. - Essential State Employee - Thursday, Feb 18, 21 @ 8:29 am:

Champaign County Board will be soon voting on whether or not to offer the U of I’s COVID saliva tests to all county employees:

    https://www.news-gazette.com/coronavirus/coronavirus-response-champaign-county-board-to-vote-on-using-uis-saliva-tests-for-employees/article_dfe27c65-bb7e-56f1-8439-c2da7da23635.html

Shouldn’t state agencies who’ve had employees back in the office for months now have considered the same thing? Offering the UI tests to their state employees?

  9. - Skeptic - Thursday, Feb 18, 21 @ 8:30 am:

“IDNR has vociferously denied their existence in Illinois for years now.” IDNR confirmed one in Morgan county years ago.

  10. - Essential State Employee - Thursday, Feb 18, 21 @ 8:31 am:

It’s mid-February and already the Sox are talking World Series:

    https://chicago.suntimes.com/white-sox/2021/2/18/22289141/talk-is-getting-world-serious-for-white-sox

I can see the Sox as a contender to win the AL Central but what do you think are their chances to go the Series this year, let alone win it all?

  11. - 47th Ward - Thursday, Feb 18, 21 @ 8:39 am:

Chicago police confirmed the existence of one in Roscoe Village several years ago.

  12. - Loop Lady - Thursday, Feb 18, 21 @ 8:52 am:

Getting my first COVID vaccine today…very grateful…
We’ve had a winters worth of snow in three weeks…

  13. - 618er - Thursday, Feb 18, 21 @ 9:05 am:

The sun is shining in my part of the state…

The Cougar network going back to the mid 90s kept reports of big cats in southern Illinois.

  14. - BTO2 - Thursday, Feb 18, 21 @ 9:13 am:

Kolten Wong wrote an amazing Thank You letter to STL and Cards fans. Worth a google.

  15. - Cheryl44 - Thursday, Feb 18, 21 @ 9:24 am:

I was stung by a wasp this morning. I got my revenge, but now I have a knot on my leg that’s red and itchy and I wonder if I’m going to develop some kind of superpower.

  16. - Chambanalyst - Thursday, Feb 18, 21 @ 9:30 am:

Shouldn’t state agencies who’ve had employees back in the office for months now have considered the same thing? Offering the UI tests to their state employees?

If they can pay for it.

  17. - Dog Lover - Thursday, Feb 18, 21 @ 9:54 am:

I saw a couger in Tazewell County several years ago. Had just moved into a house in the county (woods) that had been vacant quite a while.

  18. - Countrygirl - Thursday, Feb 18, 21 @ 10:24 am:

We saw one outside Petersburg by the river about 5 years ago.. Saw it again right by the bridge at on Gudgel Road a couple weeks later.

  19. - Candy Dogood - Thursday, Feb 18, 21 @ 11:30 am:

    === Isn’t it a wonderful day? ===

Any day where Ken Griffin might get grilled by a congressional committee is a good day.

  20. - zatoichi - Thursday, Feb 18, 21 @ 11:53 am:

We got second COVID injections yesterday. No after effects this morning. Glad it is done. They had 6 stations with a consistent flow of 4-5 people. Looks like they could easily handle a higher volume once larger shipments start.

  21. - Dotnonymous - Thursday, Feb 18, 21 @ 12:38 pm:

Every day is a good day…is what I say to myself on bad days.

  22. - Blue Dog - Thursday, Feb 18, 21 @ 12:53 pm:

Al. Jackson county. Approx 20 miles from where the mountain lion was killed on the RR tracks south of a Chester years ago.

  23. - Six Degrees of Separation - Thursday, Feb 18, 21 @ 1:12 pm:

    Carson Went.

  24. - Blake - Thursday, Feb 18, 21 @ 2:34 pm:

This is terribly misguided by Mayor Lightfoot
    https://chicago.suntimes.com/platform/amp/city-hall/2021/2/17/22288203/chicago-statues-monuments-committee-public-review-white-supremacy-christopher-columbus-protests

  25. - Blake - Thursday, Feb 18, 21 @ 2:38 pm:

Fran Spielman’s lede there about Lincoln, Grant, Washington especially is something that Mayor Lightfoot could’ve avoided.

  26. - Loop Lady - Thursday, Feb 18, 21 @ 6:36 pm:

The IDNR is a much unappreciated agency that, believe it or not, is science based…

  27. - Lynn S. - Friday, Feb 19, 21 @ 1:51 am:

    @ Blue Dog (and others):

I grew up near Effingham, on a farm.

About 35 years ago, the neighbor who lived about 1/2 mile south of my family’s farm needed to step outside of his house, for something.

The time was around 10 p.m., on a cold, snowy January or February night.

The neighbor stated that he was startled to see, between his barn and his car, a cougar passing through.

The cougar was obviously well-fed, and gave the neighbor a disdainful look, as if to say, what do you want? Why are you here?

The neighbor quickly and quietly went back into his house.

Folks who have lived in the country for a long time down that way will tell you that cougars never left. They just had really good hiding places out in the woods.

And IDNR can go fly a kite.
