There doesn’t seem to be much Chicago news except that the Sox won two yesterday and there will be an historic Wrong Sox- Right Sox baseball game with breakfast and no beer this morning.

Sox take 2 from Boston- very satisfying. I also formed an instant liking for the 7-inning format for double headers.

Rich reading with great interest the article on vaccinations. Got the Johnson 1 shot option 10 days ago (no issues). I have seen little information about the impact of teens getting the vax. Have a a 16 year old who contracted the virus and had very mild symptoms, who is now concerned about getting the shot because folks are expressing how miserable they are from getting the vax if they already had the virus. There has been little said in that space.

We have gardener’s nightmare about to play out at least for those of us in central Illinois. Temps about to plunge into the 20s with snow.

Snow is not the issues. Most of the flowering trees are in full bloom and roses are flush with new green growth. You move what you can inside and cover what you can’t but this is not a slight frost coming, it is a freeze that is going to wipe out a lot of plants.

Give Me a Break - we are facing a similar situation here in southern IL - luckily not quite as cold or as hard of freeze as you folks are facing, but could still be damaging to some of the flowering trees, shrubs, and tender plants. A bit concerned about the fruit trees. Hopefully won’t slow the morels down too much. They are just about at peak flushing of the big yellow ones. Wishing your neighborhood good luck!

Well sometimes people get special privileges, don’t forget this was Louie Arroyos guy, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

Other than that the Mayor is not resigning.

And with Wyss pulling out of the offer for the Trib, it’s looking like Alden will take over.

  8. - hisgirlfriday - Monday, Apr 19, 21 @ 9:53 am:

Bummed but not surprised if the Trib’s Alden-controlled board is rejecting higher offers to stay the course with Alden’s takeover.

Feels like that could be a breach of fiduciary duty to shareholders there but I don’t have any Trib stock to bother investigating for sure.

FWIW, my nephew had a mild case (thank God) and had no strong reaction when got his first shot a couple of weeks ago.

First Sox beat Second Sox (we had the name first) and the Tribune front page of Sports has a giant Cubs photo with a small Kopech photo at the bottom with a small article start. Cubs get crushed on nationwide tv (omg, that pitcher…), the Sox sweep the RedSox in Boston early enough for their sleepy coverage to cover it well and big and the Cubune strikes again with excessive Cubs coverage.

Rich. Need a mailing address for care package from 17th street.
