When Pelosi proposed a similar, independent 1/6 Commission, it would have an equal number of members appointed by both parties. However, an independent commission was killed by the Republicans in the Senate. The committee approved by the House that Davis was appointed to is similar to the Select Committee on Benghazi, approved by the House when it was controlled by the Republicans.
