The coffee shop at my train station was open today!

  2. - Anon E Moose - Tuesday, Oct 4, 22 @ 9:09 am:

Metra needs more trains in the morning. There’s hardly anywhere to sit.

  3. - Friendly Bob Adams - Tuesday, Oct 4, 22 @ 9:17 am:

Pretty chilly this morning in beautiful DuPage County, but should be warming later on. Sunny and October-ish.

Was waiting at the doctor’s office yesterday and they had the TV on, which was just a series of campaign commercials. Ugh. And we still have another month of this stuff…

  4. - Lynn Becker - Tuesday, Oct 4, 22 @ 9:25 am:

An heretofore unmentioned danger of Darren Bailey being elected governor is that Chicagoans will all have to take classes to acquire a Southern Illinois accent.

  5. - Give Me A Break - Tuesday, Oct 4, 22 @ 9:36 am:

$75.00 for Illini tickets in the Horseshoe? LOL, hey Whitman, this isn’t Bama. You can hardly get 30,000 for a game and you want fans who have spent years watching the Illini football train wreck to cough up $75.00 sit in the endzone?

  6. - Eire17 - Tuesday, Oct 4, 22 @ 9:40 am:

    Tony is gone!

Which one? We’re not going to pretend like someone born and raised in Clay County is going to be allowed to define what is a Southern Illinois accent are we? That’s a disaster.

  8. - Roadiepig - Tuesday, Oct 4, 22 @ 9:49 am:

Give me a break- our season tickets ( upper deck east side twenty yard line for 6 games this year) set us back about $225 per seat. A lot better than $75 a seat in the end zone . Check one of the resellers ( I won’t name them ) online- you can probably get much better seats for that $75 (or maybe less if you wait long enough) 👍

  9. - Steve Rogers - Tuesday, Oct 4, 22 @ 9:56 am:

Albert Pujols passes Babe Ruth for total RBIs. Now, that’s an accomplishment–even more impressive than hitting 700 dingers.

  10. - Amalia - Tuesday, Oct 4, 22 @ 10:13 am:

    Catalina Cat Litter should stick.

Yes, the weather is perfect, I hope we get a lot more of them before winter. This is also the favorite time of year for TV stations for a different reason. The back-to-back wall-to-wall campaign commercials bring in a lot of money.

  12. - Back to the Future - Tuesday, Oct 4, 22 @ 11:50 am:

Might have missed it in Cap Fax, but thought the article in the Times over the weekend on the Supreme Court race is worth tracking down for a good, fact based and informational read on what may be the most important race on the ballot in the fall.

And then not too long after this campaign season signs off, the Local Clown Show (aka local elections) will get started on your local newscasts soon. Never ending cycle.

I propose “No Political Ad Weekends and Sabbaths.” If I had the clout I would propose an outright ban on political advertising from sundown Friday night until midnight local time Sunday night.

Harvesting my own medicine…planted and tended to by my own hands is one of the most satisfying experiences of my life.

“Does a fenced and locked back yard (out of public view) meet the legal requirement of a “locked enclosure”…for medical card holders as written in The Law”…?…good question?

  15. - Dotnonymous - Tuesday, Oct 4, 22 @ 1:04 pm:

I received my mail-in ballot several days ago…my Wife did not?…gonna call ‘em.

  16. - cermak_rd - Tuesday, Oct 4, 22 @ 1:11 pm:

It wouldn’t just be Chicagoans. Dupagers & Lakers also don’t speak that way. Nor do the people in Coles County where I grew up. More than 75% of the state would need to be trained on it.

  17. - hisgirlfriday - Tuesday, Oct 4, 22 @ 2:30 pm:

The 17th District negative campaign ads have been running a while but seem remarkably ineffective to me.

The anti-Esther Joy King ad has music that is too upbeat as it worries about the GOP celebrating too much if she wins and has some tagline of don’t give them that joy.

The anti-Eric Sorensen ad campaign which I have gotten a lot online and via YouTube in addition to TV focuses on putting a bunch of red hearts around Sorensen ostensibly to paint him as a Pelosi lover (I think) but it recently occurred to me maybe the ad makers think they are being slick with some dogwhistle about Sorensen’s orientation with all the red and pink hearts? Regardless seeing someone’s picture in a heart codes as that person being good and likable to me so very weird choice.

  18. - AcademicUnionStateEmployee - Tuesday, Oct 4, 22 @ 5:38 pm:

The barely pubescent Sinclair “journalists” strike again on Fox Illinois’s 5:30 news (produced by Channel 20 and its Champaign sister station). This time when referring to Springfield District 186 enforcing student vaccinations. They called it “student vacations” in the opening teaser. Then again, it was half right, no vaccination you get a vacation from school.
