Looking forward to the debate and I am hoping Pritzker stomps on bailey. I do question whether bailey is aware enough to know if he gets trounced and I am willing to bet that he declares himself the winner regardless.

Personally, I somewhat hope he doesn’t. Lauf bringing it up again has revealed that a surprising amount of seemingly rational people are falling for it. It seems furries are just too effective of a target to use in attacking public schools, even if its blatant lies about both the schools and the internet community. The less these baseless claims get spread the better, in my opinion.
I’m looking forward to fascinating demographic and methodological nuances about whether Illinois has not been losing population between 2010-2020 or maybe has been between 2021-22. Ha ha, just kidding.

Under Gov Pritzker, Illinois schools have seen an influx of kitty litter boxes replacing regular restroom facilities. You operate a school, what are you doing to push back against this travesty? And does your school have any anti-kitty litter policies to protect its students?
Eric Weinberg, a very successful Hollywood executive, was
arrested Tuesday, nearly a week after he was charged with 18 felony counts including rape, oral copulation, forcible sexual penetration, sexual battery by restraint, false imprisonment by use of violence, assault by means of force likely to cause great bodily injury and attempted forcible penetration with a foreign object, according to the district attorney’s office.
He was released that day on a $5 million bond. His arraignment was scheduled for Oct. 25.

Not an Illinois story, but it does illustrate the function of the Illinois SAFE-T Act: the Act will base pretrial detention on someone’s actual dangerousness, not merely on their ability to pay.
It’s unfortunate that tonight’s debates for the 13th district and governor’s race are scheduled at the same time. I plan on primarily tuning into Deering/Budzinski and switching the to Gov debate during the commercials. The 13th race will be close, unlike the gov race. I’m really curious how abortion politics will play into this, too. With gas prices up again I think abortion becomes less salient to a lot of folks who know it will remain legal in Illinois regardless of whether the R’s regain the House/Congress.

I am sure schools will come up. I am sure Bailey will bring up the Wall Street Journal/Wirepoints editorial calling Illinois schools poor and suggesting Decatur is the worst and ita staff and teachers should be fired. It’s the same misusing of test scores the far right has been using to trash schools since A Nation at Risk. It uses a level of Proficient on the IAR tests as grade level when it is a level purposefully set to have only 30some percent reach it so it is much higher than grade level. Anyway they hold up Florida in Ted’s article as a model when less students hit the same level there. The biggest difference between Florida and Illinois is out of the five levels of testing, Illinois labels 4 and 5 as grade level and passing. Florida considers levels 2-5 to be passing.
Does anyone know if the debate will be streaming online anywhere? All the coverage I’ve seen only mentions the TV stations, nothing about radio or online.

By the way, they are also relocating their corporate employees from South Dakota to their Springdale AR headquarters. Yes, zero percent corporate tax rate South Dakota. Sometimes companies make decisions for reasons other than tax avoidance.
MLB Illinois story: Nick Maton of the Phillies got a hit off of his brother Phil Maton of the Astros yesterday. First time they ever faced each other, I think.
CASEYVILLE, Ill. - Governor JB Pritzker helped to officially break ground Wednesday at the new Tyson Foods processing plant in downstate Illinois.
Tyson is investing more than $180 million in the plant expansion in Caseyville, making it capable of producing 16 million pounds of product a year.
The expansion will also create 250 jobs at the facility.

That’s why I’m impressed JB is doing this, actually. The norm is pretty busted; he doesn’t have to, anymore. And I think it’s a stretch to say, he’s worried about possible backlash if he doesn’t.
But it’s the right thing to do, regardless.

I just saw the headline that I might be voting in a new polling place on election day because of the consolidation of precincts. I looked up my address and, indeed, the church at the end of my block that hosted two precincts and where I have voted for more than 30 years in no more; I have to go to the elementary school several blocks away.
I understand why they have done it, but it still makes me sad, more ways seeing neighbors (who are election judges and precinct workers) has become harder.
