And after we do this, we’ll go to another location, and we’ll make it safe also. We’re going to make our country very safe. We’re going to make our cities very, very safe. Chicago is a mess. You have an incompetent mayor, grossly incompetent. And we’ll straighten that one out, probably next that will be our next one after this, and it won’t even be tough. And the people in Chicago, Mr. Vice President, are screaming for us to come in. They’re wearing red hats, just like this one, but they’re wearing red hats. African American ladies, beautiful ladies, are saying, ‘Please, President Trump, come to Chicago. Please.’ I did great with the Black vote, as you know, and they want something to happen, so I think Chicago will be our next.
* The Black ladies in the red hats belong to @FlipChicagoRed. The group has been relentlessly hyped by outlets like Fox News and made its bones by pitting Black people against migrants…
Thank you, @aishahhasnie, for taking the time to chat with Danni C about her testimony yesterday at the Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement: Sanctuary Jurisdictions: Magnet for Migrants, Cover for Criminals.
Read the constitution. Article I Section 9. Due process is not a right when it comes to illegal migrants and terrorist organizations. It can be suspended when necessary - it's not inherent.
* For some reason, Sun-Times columnist Neil Steinberg never heard of them before. But he did a bit of digging…
So I asked: She sincerely believes Chicago will benefit from the National Guard patrolling its streets?
“Yes, I do,” said Carter-Walters, who lives in Marquette Park. “Our communities are out of control. The destruction. The devastation of what’s happening. We are being displaced out of our homes by illegal aliens.
“I stay on the South Side of Chicago. I’m living the experience. You can’t sit in your car without worrying about being robbed, mugged, shot, carjacked. We definitely need something to be done.”
She said her group has only eight members, but more are out there.

=Our communities are out of control. The destruction. The devastation of what’s happening. We are being displaced out of our homes by illegal aliens.=
The language is so over the top and people that don’t go to Chicago seem to just take it at face value. I was all over Chicago this summer and visit frequently (liver there in my late 20″s too) and never had a problem. Never afraid. Not downtown, not in Chinatown, Pilsen, west side, not anywhere. I know crime exists but this idea that “illegal aliens” are displacing people is just a lie. Gentrification? Ok, you have a much different argument there. The upper middle class millenials and gen z seem to be displacing everyone. I kid, a little.
The irony is that if he deploys troops, they won’t be in the neighborhoods those ladies are talking about (not those neighborhoods or anywhere needs them) is not where they will be. This is a performance, so it will be staged in the Loop, mag mile, etc. It’s about visuals. Not about substance. (Though real people will be harmed if he does this.)
The ‘Chicago Flips Red’ folks are a common sight at city hall. They dominate public comment and box out other groups who are trying to speak about the actual subject matter of the meetings. Its really frustrating.
I attend a lot of concerts at Millennium Park. They are over now. They are also very safe. It would be very scary to have a bunch of thugs with face masks wandering around grabbing people for unknown reasons. Keep them out of Chicago. No armed Trump MAGA thugs!

This Chicago Defender interview is telling:
“I came here from Atlanta to fight for my mother’s property after it was unlawfully demolished through illegal eminent domain. When they refused to settle her case, I decided to get involved because I believe in the U.S. Constitution and that it should be upheld.”
- Zoe Leigh
I do not know the particulars of the case, but obviously if it was eminent domain, it was not unlawful, illegal or unconstitutional. And the building owner was compensated. And the outcome likely would be the same under a Republican city hall.
Nope - not going to her neighborhood. This is a performative exercise being done for show. I work on Michigan Ave and can’t wait to see troops on Michigan Ave twiddling their thumbs because there is no rampant crime downtown. I’m here every day. Sure, there’s the occasional incident and there were a couple of gangs of kids being disruptive earlier this summer but the City got control of them. Larry Snelling is doing a great job and Brandon is not interfering with him.
Of all the dumb stunts he’s done, this will be the dumbest.
The comment by “here we go again” at 11:14 reminded me of Karl Marx’s observation that when history repeats itself, it does so first as tragedy and then again as farce. When the president proudly touts to his vice-president a group, by its own leader’s count having but eight members, for wearing red hats “just like us, it’s a fair sign that the farcical is intruding more and more into our politics.
Trump is going to keep playing this game, and it’ll be worse than Bruce Rauner and his damage to the party. The GOP is going to get womped in Illinois and probably lose most, if not all, collar county seats. The lack of microtargeting and local messaging by Trump and his team, for the overall victory of the party, would be mind-numbing if it weren’t so blatant and obvious that he only cares about himself.

Based on their usual turnout at Chicago City Hall public comment periods…a membership of eight seems a little high.
