Nice morning
Headed to SPI later today to join SIU alums for the annual Day of Giving tailgate event at Motorheads (yeah very few SIU events occur w/o a tailgate element) GO DAWGS.
Livingston County farmers are taking in corn already. Those fields, which may be a faster-maturing variety, are as dry as parchment.
Took a ride to Pontiac, where scaffolding is up and they’re refurbishing their historic courthouse on the Square.
If you’re looking for a relaxing, laid-back way to spend a Fall day, there are some nice restaurants on the Square and the War Museum is something to see.
=The Springfield City Council meeting last night was — jaw dropping. We have a long way to go.=
Unfortunately, Chatham residents were blocked from watching the festivities live. Since the Youtube feed of Chief Behl’s presentation was blocked from the Live feed due to “bad language,” and Comcast and/or City of Springfield blocks Chatham residents from getting city Channel 18. And yet we can still get “Access 4 Springfield” (the other city channel) and Lincoln’s public access channel (channel 9). Something is not right with this picture considering what is decided in the Horseshoe can trickle down to Chatham (especially with many village residents working in Springfield, the city limits encroaching upon those of Chatham, etc.).
