I’ve heard the Cook County GOP has someone to run against Preckwinkle but I haven’t heard the name - anyone know who it is?

Sorry I missed the Blackhawks light up the Stanley Cup champs last night, 10-1. I saw the glorious highlights today.
- pundemonium - Friday, Oct 6, 17 @ 1:37 pm:
at least the hawks and the cubs can help me overcome my bears blues

- UIUC - Friday, Oct 6, 17 @ 1:37 pm:
Charlie Kirk of Turning Point USA came to UIUC last night. A student asked if Rauner has been a failed Gov. Charlie responded by saying he’s a “disappointment” Check out the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbFXZ6GmnOs
- Aaron DeGroot - Friday, Oct 6, 17 @ 1:38 pm:
How about those Hawks?
- Grand Avenue - Friday, Oct 6, 17 @ 1:38 pm:
Blackhawks had a boffo start & Bulls are favorites for the #1 pick in the 2018 draft.
- Gooner - Friday, Oct 6, 17 @ 1:41 pm:
Grandson,
You missed a great one.
The Hawks did everything right last night.
Hopefully this is the start of a good run.
- Chicago_Downstater - Friday, Oct 6, 17 @ 1:43 pm:
It’ll be interesting to play against Dusty Baker’s Nats. I’m hoping he’s over-pitched his super talented starters like he did poor Mark Prior. If that’s the case, then we could be able to steal a win from an ace in at least one of the first two games. At any rate this should be an intense series for us Cubbie fans.
As for the White Sox fans on the board, the Blackhawks are fun to watch right now & Trubisky starting for the Bears should be interesting if nothing else.
- The Muse - Friday, Oct 6, 17 @ 1:50 pm:
It’s an odd feeling of not being overly worried about the Cubs winning it all. Breaking that curse last year sure makes this postseason run less anxiety-filled. Go Cubs! Let’s Win Two!!
- wordslinger - Friday, Oct 6, 17 @ 1:52 pm:
Think the Hawks were a little honked on how they washed out against Nashville last season?
I’ve never seen such a shocking beat down in a hockey game. That wasn’t the Washington Generals, that was the champs. If it was a prize fight, they would have stopped it in the first.
So glad to see Saad back. He’s 24 now and has his man-strength. He is going to be a force.

The only person having a worse day than Kristina Rasmussen is Nick Folk.

I think we need to sort all of the gubernatorial candidates into Hogwarts houses. Here’s a go at it…
Ameya Pawar-Gryffindor
Bruce Rauner-Hufflepuff
Chris Kennedy-Slytherin
Daniel Biss-Ravenclaw
JB Pritzker-Hufflepuff
Jeanne Ives-Slytherin
Thoughts?
- perrier - Friday, Oct 6, 17 @ 2:02 pm:
Over/under for the Bulls’ wins this season is 21.5. I’m taking the under.
- pool boy - Friday, Oct 6, 17 @ 2:04 pm:
The Bulls have no reason to improve with the highest attendance in NBA. Why?
- Actual Red - Friday, Oct 6, 17 @ 2:06 pm:
@MissingG
I can’t see Rauner as a Hufflepuff. Their defining traits are like loyalty and humility, aren’t they?

===The Bulls have no reason to improve with the highest attendance in NBA.===
Doug Collins has a great basketball mind. He’ll make it happen.
- VanillaMan - Friday, Oct 6, 17 @ 2:12 pm:
Rauner can’t be Hufflepuff House.
He has a flat head and bolts on each side of his neck. More like House of Frankenstein.
- VanillaMan - Friday, Oct 6, 17 @ 2:14 pm:
JB is clearly House of Flintstone.
- VanillaMan - Friday, Oct 6, 17 @ 2:16 pm:
Ives is Bleak House
- Blue dog dem - Friday, Oct 6, 17 @ 2:20 pm:
People ridiculed me for ‘thoughts and prayers’. Two years ago, while in vegas, ma Dog and I narrowely escaped our fate when a homeless person drove her car down the sidewalk of Las Vegas blvd. Two weeks ago, ma Dog and I attended the ‘Life is Beautiful’ concert near Freemont. Yup, prayers were in order.
- Perrid - Friday, Oct 6, 17 @ 2:22 pm:
Ameya Pawar- Hufflepuff (I would say he emphasizes fair play more than bravery)
Bruce Rauner-Slytherin
Chris Kennedy- Hufflepuff (you must really not like him to put him into Slytherin)
Daniel Biss-Ravenclaw
JB Pritzker-Hufflepuff
Jeanne Ives-Slytherin
It would be interesting to see where they would put themselves since the Sorting Hat lets the “student” pick their own house.
Gryffindor values bravery, daring, nerve, and chivalry.
Hufflepuff values hard work, dedication, patience, loyalty, and fair play.
Ravenclaw values intelligence, knowledge, and wit
Slytherin house values ambition, cunning and resourcefulness.

“JB is clearly House of Flintstone.”
JB could be Fred but if they ever do a JB movie (why would they) Oliver Platt has another job.

Blue Dog,
Thanks for posting!
As you note, those who died in Las Vegas just didn’t pray enough, right?
God just didn’t like those people at all. You know god. Unless you talk to him, he gets mad.
Or maybe you just got lucky.
Maybe your religion made no difference at all.
Think that may be possible?

Any guesses on what the Friday afternoon news dump will be today?
- Amalia - Friday, Oct 6, 17 @ 2:42 pm:
where’s the link to the online sorting quiz? saw it a few months ago. Rich should sponsor a candidate forum where they each answer in front of Rich so we can solve this mystery! Personally, I would not mind Slytherin as Snape was pretty great.

“Any guesses on what the Friday afternoon news dump will be today?”
Hasn’t that already happened??

We still haven’t heard about Pawar’s fundraising for the quarter.

I’d just like to say this is a great community here, and I stop by often, more than I post. Remember when Mr. Miller tried the new website design for about 3 days? I wish it lasted only so that we could up- vote or like some of the comments here. Otherwise I like that the design is from 2002

Any World Series predictions? My Cards are out of the running two years in a row ( so unusual, but that happens ).
- justacitizen - Friday, Oct 6, 17 @ 3:27 pm:
Illini, Cards fan here too. So I’m watching the USA v Panama World Cup qualifier (futbol/soccer)tonight-6:00; ESPN2

Just got a payment for my oldest (25 months ago) dental bill. I want to thank the people of Illinois for forcing me into a loan agreement with them for 18% over the two years or so..while I resented it, the terms are quite good for me…glad you have a great business mind in charge..
- Responsa - Friday, Oct 6, 17 @ 3:39 pm:
Stros are gonna represent the AL. Not willing to predict the NL winner this soon but I don’t think it’s going to be the Cubs.

Respectfully, you can thank the Gov - he’s the one who’s responsible.
Thanks for hanging in there.
- 47th Ward - Friday, Oct 6, 17 @ 3:49 pm:
The Nationals are a monster team. Their starting pitching is unbelievable and the line-up is deep, 1-8 can hurt you. Plus Murphy is a notorious Cubs killer.
Looking at the Nats, the only positive I see for the Cubs is sitting in the dugout, chewing on a toothpick. Dusty can pull defeat from the jaws of victory better than any manager in history. If the Cubs can keep the games close, Dusty’s decision-making gives us a decent chance.
Go Cubs.

@We’ll See - He didn’t help, bu the group health insurance has been behind for years before Rauner

“Saad”
I’ll never forget the Saad-to Richards-to Kane goal in the 2015 Stanley Cup clincher at the UC. T’was a thing of beauty.
