* My brother Devin named his youngest son after himself. But Devin jokingly told me when I was in southern Illinois a week ago that he should have named him Richard III, after our dad and myself, because he’s so much like us. The kid’s nickname is Budgie and I absolutely love this pic…

Fun weekend with the family, and a surprisingly good comedy show in Peoria for Nate Bargatze. His crew brought in a lot of tourism dollars to Peoria, that’s for sure. The area around the civic center was a zoo for even the old timer’s showing at 3 pm.
And good on your nephew playing baseball. I admitted did not remotely have the attention span to play as a kid, and as a result I was soured on the sport until my teenaged years. My son isn’t into baseball, so has zero interest in trying it, so while that’s disappointing the fact that he’s really into basketball is a fun alternative for us. Not to mention that I certainly won’t complain about the costs of anything basketball-related given that I have friends practically taking out mortgages for their kids to play hockey at five in the morning two counties over.

When Dad put his tongue out like you knew it was time to run, and fast. He has the stubbornness, sensitivity and brilliance of both Richards.
It’s Budgie’s world - we just all live in it.
