Lived outside of small towns in rural counties my entire life.
There are a lot of cons, and the cliques of locals that often run them can be quite frustrating.
But then, every time I visit metropolitan areas, I find myself thanking God for small towns.

Thanks for posting this. Watching YouTube videos of rural Illinois is my latest hobby.
I’m undertaking a project that’s taking me everywhere in Illinois. Although many of them are dying due to various factors, when I research them, some have interesting histories.

It’s very cool, there are thousands of these small towns all over the country.
All of them are down from their high population point. While most have a higher-than-median average income, all seemed to have higher-than-average child poverty.
This leads me to believe that if areas are to thrive and “come back,” more childcare, healthcare, broadband, and other programs could help people make that move out of urban areas back into Main Street USA.

Frida’s Boss.
You’re right…but that requires change and as a lifelong Forgottonia resident a bunch of the small towns here fight it tooth and nail

@ Proud Papa Bear. Is this a public project that you can share anything from? I’m very curious about this topic.
