* I was looking for something else on the blog last night and stumbled across this B-52s (pre-fame) live video. Confession: I have been obsessed with early B-52s shows for a very long time. But that video can no longer be embedded. So then I went down a rabbit hole and found this one for you, which was recorded after their first studio album was released…

I remember watching the B-52’s on SNL and going out to buy their album the very next day. Never looked back. Such a fun band, especially live.

There’s an image going around social media of a fake AI generated reading list in the print copy of Chicago Sun Times. Can anyone confirm, this is in fact genuine? Because that’s just depressing.

Today is the Senate’s third reading of the Rewilding house bill 2726. It is a Gray Wolf Reintroduction bill and will be horrible for Herdsmen and Shepherds all over the State. Selling hunting permits to people raises millions for Natural Resources and conservation programs. People hunt specific species during proscribed times and places. I am really worried about the future of society where AI slop is replacing actual human-generated content in newspapers.

I get this is just a dumb content filler list but these kind of mistakes are still so damaging to the integrity of the Sun-Times and everyone who works there.
Something like this never could have happened 20 years ago. Not just because there were no AI tools to generate content but because there was a system of copy editing at every newspaper or magazine to check this stuff out.
I feel like we are being led into a new Dark Age where everyone uses AI to write everything but no one knows if it is true because it’s AI content trained on other AI content that may have just been made up.

Just reading in the daily NPR email where State of Illinois employment is now at 55,340, up from 50,544 in 2018, and about the same as 2008’s 55,273 employees.
Still down substantially from 2002, when the State employed over 77,000 and about 11,000 took the ERI intended to shed State employees.

I believe that Dance This Mess Around is the B-52’s very best song. It’s stunning.
I saw them a few times in the old days, always a fan. But there were so many excellent bands back then that I probably even took them for granted!!! How shameful.
I went to their farewell reunion tour and it was disappointing. So no Illinois state fair. We will have rely on YouTube and our memories.
