* Crain’s…
In response to other Democrats’ friendly questions, Pritzker landed some digs at White House border czar Tom Homan for allowing TV host Dr. Phil McGraw to accompany federal officials on one of the Trump administration’s first immigration raids in Chicago earlier this year.
And the governor practically dared White House border czar Tom Homan to try to arrest him, as Homan suggested recently he might do to California Gov. Gavin Newsom if he interfered with federal immigration enforcement.
“First of all, I would say, he can try,” Pritzker said. “I will tell you I will stand in the way of Tom Homan going after people who don’t deserve to be frightened in their communities, who don’t deserve to be threatened, terrorized. I would rather that he came and arrested me than do that to the people of my state.”
Asked by Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., about growing protests across the country, Pritzker said he encourages people to “peacefully protest.”
* The ILGOP is fundraising off the quote…
Pritzker is DOUBLING DOWN, and now he’s bragging that he will stand directly in the way of ICE agents doing their jobs.
It’s happening right now. J.B. Pritzker is testifying before Congress and making a complete FOOL of Illinois in front of the entire nation.
In front of the entire nation, our governor just said:
“I will stand in the way of Tom Homan…”
Pritzker refuses to support our ICE agents or secure our border. Instead, he is actively obstructing law enforcement and putting Illinois families at risk.
And now, while violent riots are breaking out in Los Angeles, Pritzker is pushing the same dangerous, lawless agenda here in Illinois, inciting division and emboldening chaos in our streets.
While Illinois families are struggling to survive rising taxes, out-of-control crime, and failing schools, Pritzker is using YOUR voice to push a radical national agenda.
He doesn’t speak for us. We will not let this stand.
Our ILGOP rapid response team is fighting back, but we need YOU to help us stop this madness.

all of it, the hearing, the questions, the action in the streets, makes me more certain than ever that I wish Biden had handled things differently. Democrats are supposed to handle government competently. so now the State, and our Governor, left with the wake of the Federal Government’s poor handling, under Biden.

Being this unhinged has become standard issue for the any state level GOP organization but hallucinating this from Pritzker’s comments is pretty out there.
They want to enslave and rule us like kings.

And as I understand it US Senator Padilla was thrown to the ground by (Ice? private security?) at a Kristi Noem press conference when he raised his hand and tried to ask a question.

==And as I understand it US Senator Padilla was thrown to the ground==
I watched the video. It was despicable that they did that to a United States Senator. I’m embarrassed for our country right now. The Trump Administration is a nightmare.

As is normal, the IL GOP reminding us why they are a super minority. I used to consider myself independent and voted for both Democrats and Republicans but those days are gone. I will never vote for a Republican for any office again.

The President isn’t cleaning up a mess created by Joe Biden. He’s creating theater by pretending that a crisis exists to appeal to bigots and racists. While Biden could have done more to address the issues at the border, I wouldn’t conflate what he did while in office with what Trump is doing at this moment. From the Central Park five to birtherism this was always an inevitable outcome.

Televised congressional hearings have largely been performative theater for decades regardless of which party holds the gavel.
Some have been meaningful, but days like today are about getting campaign ad clips.

“out-of-control crime”? Violent crime nationally is actually down.

As the governor said in his testimony, it is indeed a political circus. I wonder if he regrets participating in it?

At the beginning of the day I didn’t think for a second that JB could end the day looking worse than Govs Hochul and Waltz. But he did. Coming on like an angry battering ram did not serve either his own political ambitions or the state’s reputation. If he was counselled and prepped for his appearance before the congressional committee he was not well served. If he came up with this approach on his own it is even more worrisome.

=Pritzker is DOUBLING DOWN, and now he’s bragging that he will stand directly in the way of ICE agents doing their jobs.=
Dishonest from the word “PRITZKER”
Also, disrespectful. This party that wants to allegedly return to some “old school” ers of respect and wholesomeness is eternally disrespectful.
=The President isn’t cleaning up a mess created by Joe Biden.=
Agree to disagree, a little. Illegal immigration, primarily on our southern border, has been an issue of one kind or another since at least the 70’s. So it isn’t new, it isn’t and invasion, we aren’t being replaced. The biden admin denied and then waited too long to address the increase in border crossings during his early administration. But we need to have some control over who comes here, who stays, who works here when they visit etc. THAT has never been adequately addressed. Until it does the rest is a cruel sideshow.
There is also this, there is a HUGE reason while people want top come to the US. We remain the land of opportunity unlike anywhere else. China and Russia have long worked to keep people from leaving their country. That’s not an American problem. You are always free to go. 99.9% of those coming are headed this way to flee oppression or find economic opportunity or both. You look at the maga zealots like miller and noem and trump and you know not one of them has faced any of these issues and have led an insular entitled life. Miller (no relation) may have faced some tough times in middle school and high school locker rooms (/s maybe) and is definitely vitamin e deficient, but he has never been more than a yowling anti something carnival barker. He has never worked day labor or even fast food. They don’t have a clue as to what the real USA is about. So we cannot give in, we can control our border without cruelty and way need to find a reasonable path to citizenship.

No one came out smelling like a rose — not the governors or committee members. But that’s what happens when you willing crawl through a sewer.

The reason you need to stand in the way of ICE agents right now, if you’re an elected, is that many ICE officers are breaking the law on a daily basis right now.
This agency is out of control. Many ICE officers themselves are demoralized, at what they’re being ordered to do.
Comment by ZC Thursday, Jun 12, 25 @ 4:56 pm
The entire day was a joke. Everyone getting campaign clips and having no solutions or any actual reason as to what they were actually there for.
This was a bad look for all involved. It was like watching a preschool class all sit around and yell at each other.
Embarrassing for the Country.
But I’m sure every member and Governor there will find a way to make it about them and say how they were fighting for their people. Whichever side of people you happen to represent. So maybe they all got accomplished what they wanted for their marketing, their election or the million dollar consultants but nothing was down for the people.

Senator Padilla did not raise his hand to ask a question. He rudely and loudly interrupted and disrupted the proceedings and was treated like any such person should be treated. Kind of funny he had to tell people who he was, as if he should be treated differently than a regular citizen.

US Representative Biggs of Arizona leveled Governor Pritzker. The Governor claimed to be unaware of a pending lawsuit and seemed unfamiliar with applicable Federal laws.
I think that Pritzker ought to content himself with seeking a third gubernatorial term. He took some real solid body blows today.

This “hearing” was designed to eliminate presidential candidates, and produce soundbites for the GOP’s next commercials. Most of the questions I heard had nothing to do with immigration, and more to do with Republican talking points and commercials for the next election.

Captain Obvious, that was probably the worst comment you’ve ever made here. Have you never been to a press conference?
Also, he was in a secure building on government business.
You’re gone from here, man.
