* Smile Politely…
Prior to the release of her new album How Are You Lately?, Smile Politely had the chance to catch up with Peoria-based songstress Emily How. How Are You Lately? is How’s first long play album featuring 11 songs, with “Normalcy,” “Zombie Song,” and “Undertow” released as the album’s singles.
How wrote every song on the album, while they were recorded, mixed, and produced by Jacob Hill. How shared that Hill also plays guitar, keys, and banjo on the album. Alongside How and Hill, the current band lineup also includes Matt Filarski on drums and Bowie Adams on bass.
* “Normalcy”…
* Please keep your chat Illinois-centric. Thanks.

Major sports focus from yesterday, with the Cubs hopefully snapping out of their funk with a very nice trashing of the Cards, and very neat to see that two Illini players were drafted back to back into the NBA yesterday, Jakučionis @ 20th to the Heat and Riley to the Wizards via the Jazz. Hopefully both provide springboards for the team and the program.

It took my bus twice as long as usual to get where I was going today, thanks to NASCAR street closures. There were some earlier-than-planned closures due to pavement buckling from the heat. Roosevelt from Columbus to Michigan and Michigan from Roosevelt to Adams were hideous.

The square in Macomb is blocked to traffic as things are setting up for Heritage Days.
And THANKS for introducing Emily How and this song…

Saddened by the closure of more local family owned restaurants. Many struggled during the pandemic, which caused many to close, and once Illinois lifted the restrictions some of the survivors could not find quality wait staff.

I forgot that the Sox were playing an afternoon game yesterday. So of course they won, and hit 3 home runs on top of that.
Looks like they will win about 55 games this year, which is terrible but a tad better than last year.

More sports news…
The Bulls are moving down from 45th overall to 55th overall in exchange for an unspecified amount of money from the Lakers.
The team is literally voluntarily dropping ten slots in the 2nd round because Reinsdorf wants some cash.
Sell the team, Jerry.
