  1. I love Guy Clark’s music. We had the pleasure of seeing him perform at a Singer & Songwriter festival in 2012 at ACL. Everyone there - Kristofferson, Randy Travis, Hayes Carll, Bobby Pinson, Todd Snider, all stood in the wings just silent as he sang Desperados and Dublin Blues in Austin. Thanks for posting!

  2. Along the lines of my request that all Illinois public bodies stream (either via Youtube or audio) any and all of their meetings, I would like to see the State take over BlueRoomStream.com and make it free to all state offices and state employees. And for all video of gavel to gavel coverage of the GA to be digitized and permanently digitally archived and readily made available to the public.

Also, BlueRoomStream.com needs to be a free app to Comcast X1 and other cable streaming service customers statewide.

And it would be great to see one of those low-power TV translators in the Springfield area with mostly junk programming (channels 21, 27, 33, or 41) be purchased by the State in conjunction with the City of Springfield. And put BlueRoomStream’s GA coverage on some of the subchannels, plus whatever is left of Illinois Channel, as well as the Springfield municipal channels (4, 18, and 22 on Comcast–of which 18 and 22 are denied to Chatham subscribers even though we have the same cable system as Springfield).

  3. I know he’s based in New York, but Colbert has a Chicago connection so I’m going with it.

The news that CBS is cancelling the Late Show next year for “financial” reasons when it’s been the top-rated show in its slot on network TV for well over a half decade is pretty stunning. CBS clearly bending the knee to the orangeman after their recent settlement.

Hope CBS gets some major blowback from this. Absolutely pathetic, and nobody remotely buys any innocuous reasoning they may claim for why they axed Colbert.

  4. In northern Kane/southeast McHenry counties we’re still reeling from the state Senator Don DeWitte retirement announcement. While it was rumored for some time, the reality of yesterday’s announcement & the local political dominoes falling taking shape.

Senator DeWitte will be missed. In spite being a superminority Republican in Springfield he knew how to get things done. Two years ago he helped the local Dundee Township amend mental health legislation and win approval from Democratic sponsors. He did this many times.

Senator DeWitte will be missed in Springfield.

  6. I had missed Isabel’s blurb yesterday about the private law firm hired by CHA getting busted for citing to fake cases using ChatGPT.

The Illinois Supreme Court and ARDC need to find a way to crack down on this insanity with harsh punishment for the people that do this stuff.

Every brief that uses AI should have to say so, for starters. Unfortunately TPTB put out guidelines earlier this year saying they didn’t want to require that AI use disclosure for fear it would chill legitimate AI use. IMO that’s putting the profit interest of the tech companies selling lawyers AI tools above the interest of promoting trust in our courts and having a well-functioning judicial system.

  7. The RTA is required by state law to forward sales tax revenues to the service providers. If additional money comes in the RTA has to send it to them.

However, the service providers aren’t required to spend it.

  9. Has anyone else noticed the Illinois General Assembly’s new website makes searching for statutes much less efficient that the old site? Or is it just me?

  11. When might Isabel’s investigation on the reasons for the ILGA website changes be released? Unless it’s subscriber only I look forward to reading it and finding out the GA IT staff’s rationale for scrapping a functional over 22-year old website.
