Reporter: Let’s start on the big question. The president has again reaffirmed his desire to send National Guard troops to Chicago. Don’t take this the wrong way, but he said ‘Pritzker, he’s nothing,’ so tell me your reaction.
Pritzker: Look, I have said before that you can’t take anything that he says seriously. From one day to the next, he’s attacking verbally, sometimes he attacks [by] sending his agents in. Sometimes he forgets. I think he might be suffering from some dementia. You know, the next day, he’ll wake up on the other side of the bed and stop talking about Chicago. So I’ve never really counted on anything that he said is real. When he said that he wasn’t coming to Chicago, I didn’t trust that. When he says he is coming to Chicago, it’s hard to believe anything he says. […]

In all honesty, Trump has never been stable, not really coherent. Making up stuff, clearly not understanding much about the government or trade or foreign relations. So it’s hard for me to tell if he’s being as ignorant as he “normally” is or has an issue.

Whether or not we think he is losing it, I don’t think it is appropriate for the Governor to be making these types of statements. We don’t want to be seen as calloused to individuals that do suffer from dementia or their families. There are better ways to defend against Trump’s attacks than to say he is losing his faculties.

Please stop these condescending lectures on what’s “appropriate” when one of the two national political parties is currently working to codify any criticism of its members or its friends as hate speech.
Joe Biden wasn’t half as gone at that miserable debate performance in 2024 as Trump is on a good day in 2025 and yet practically no one took issue with suggesting he was senile.

It is an odd thing about dementia the Democrats could never see it in a Democratic President and the Republicans can not see it in a Republican President
The 25th Amendment is useless unless it is for an obvious affliction like heart attack or stroke or serious illness

I’m not convinced he has dementia. I do think he suffers from extreme narcissism, an ego based reality, having no idea what government/leadership is about, surrounds himself with sychophats, and is just a horrible human being.

Stop it. You can point out a President’s failures without resorting to commenting on their mental state. The problem in the 2024 campaign cycle is that nobody from the Biden camp or the Democratic side of the aisle was willing to publicly call out Biden’s failures and they kept their head in the sand until it was too late.

Criticizing the leadership of a political party is not criticizing every member of said party. And he compared specific actions to actions taken leading to the fall of democracy in Germany of which many historians and political science would agree with those concerns.

Well, maybe his handlers should hide him away for a few years then and let his CoS or someone else who wasn’t elected run the country, while his administration and all other prominent Republicans keep telling everyone the president is fine, he’s never been more energetic, and you should see how mentally sharp and genius-level intelligent he is in private meetings.
Not that any presidential administration or party would ever do something like that.
And the governor would certainly never declare his unequivocal support for a president or candidate or party who did such a thing, I am sure.

Certainly nobody operating from within the White House. Certainly no Democrats in Congress. His staff hid him from public view. It wasn’t until that fateful debate performance when the whole world got to see for itself the state that President Biden was in.

JB, the Dems, and the media should not be speaking about who or who isn’t losing it after the massive cover-up of Joe Biden’s issues. Jake Tapper wrote a book about their lies. Kamala Harris’ book had it in there as well.
JB and others had a chance to speak out, but didn’t; they all fed into the same lie.
So why should people believe him now?

Just my thoughts, but if you read the extensive quote from Trump on today’s prior post - Trump sends National Guard to Memphis - there are a lot of points at which Trump seems a bit out of sorts. While some may suggest he is just a folksy-kind-of-guy, the languages used today is quite different from the way he spoke in the past. His train of thought consciousness has become less clear, and much more simpleminded.

Yes, President Biden’s supporters have a blind spot about Biden’s mental state but that can in no way excuse us from ignoring the obvious mental defect in Trump.
Daily we are all witnesses to Trump’s babbling, incoherent and bizarre display of statements that clearly demonstrate a serious cognitive issue.

Trump is upending the norms and has little, if any, filter. I think for a lot people, this comes down to a question of dementia or “crazy like a fox.” Either way, the lack of predictability and adherence to both laws and established practice is incredibly disruptive and disturbing. Some folks are cheering this while others are worried.

Trump might be a mad genius, but he definitely doesn’t fit a dementia symptom profile — shuffling feet, poor balance, incorrect words/names, problem-solving, mood changes, time/space confusion. Trump does none of that.
Who gives Pritzker advice like this? It’s inciting, far from insighting, and false on its face.
As a Trump supporter, I appreciate that in the last 24hrs he has given updates on the $250 ballroom construction project, leaned on the EU to quit buying Russian oil “can’t have it both ways,” and about 20 other things if you consume the news that covers him favorably. He knows what’s going on in the last 24 hrs in the courts, the hill, and out in the country.
He might be a dramatic troll, but he’s good at that too.
JB, good luck landing any jabs that will be persuasive to the center. Definitely a “swing and a miss” on this one.

And yet he has failed to assess the additional sanctions he has talekd about for months. WHich is it? You can’t have it both ways.
Pritzker is trolling trump and if you were more clear-eyed you would understand that. Given trumps incessant name calling, it is the epitome of hypocrisy to criticize Pritzker while, at the same time, lauding trump.
Pritzker is simply beating trump at his own game, just like Newsome.
