I’m not sure what he did, but US Sen. Dick Durbin’s job approval rating is now at the highest it’s been since SurveyUSA began its montly tracker last May.
52 percent approve of Sen. Durbin’s job performance (a 6-point jump since last month) and 34 percent disapprove (down from 39 percent last month). He shot way up among seniors (11 points) and males (13 points).
Sen. Barack Obama’s approval, according to SurveyUSA is 72 percent, while 20 percent disapprove.

Contrary to what the very vocal extreme 20% keep saying. Durbin’s willingness to stand up to this out of control administration is reason enough for his numbers to go up.
Please very vocal extreme, keep yelling, keep forcing GOP primary candidates to continue trying to outflank each other to the right. That will keep us a blue state for at least another generation.

I’m waiting for him to campaign for Maj. Duckworth. Then we can watch the Cegelis folks turn on him with vengence.

I believe his poll numbers are up due to the support his Guantanamo position was given by Osama bin Laden in his last video. Both Dick and Osama are railing at the US for it’s defense measures taken in Cuba. If all goes well for the Democrats, perhaps Osama can show up at Dick’s campaign rallies in 2008!

Vanilla Man:
Yeah, that’s right holding the US to the standards of the Geneva Convention is the same as saying you support terrorists.
That’s the type of tired nonsense that keeps Bush’s approval ratings at 40%. Thank God sixty percent of this country see through your moronic rhetoric.
That’s why the people who actually served their country, unlike the chikenhawks in the White House, feel the same way Durbin does about prisoner treatment.
The only rally’s Osama will be attending are for the fools like you who are willing to sacrifice your freedom and humanity (assuming you ever had any) so they can pretend it makes then safer.

if i was dick durbin i wouldn’t be to happy with a 52% approval rating. cosidering bush has an approval rating of about 36% in illinois. look at most of the other democratic senators in the poll and most are above dick’s numbers. dick seems to be “just” above average. dick’s just average.

I almost forgot about that guy who followed Barack Obama around for a while, into bathrooms and stuff, literally. Oh that was a hoot. Anyway…
Infinite incarceration without trials or public disclosure of what is going on isn’t the way to ‘defeat the terrorists.’ Getit?

If his approvals are over 50%, there is no way the “gang that couldn’t shoot straight” is going to find a GOP candidate to give him any serious trouble

Durbin boosted by the $8,000 he took from Abramoff cliets. His boss, Sen. Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), refuses to refund $30,000 in Abramoff money.
