* The setup…
During his first run for governor in 2006, Republican state Sen. Bill Brady told the Daily Herald his favorite song was Neil Diamond’s “I Am… I Said.”
One of the song’s passages goes:
“‘I am,’ I said
To no one there
And no one heard at all
Not even the chair.”Those lines may well aptly describe Brady’s position in the suburbs as he now launches his bid against Gov. Pat Quinn.
They missed the best one…
Did you ever read about a frog who dreamed of bein’ a king
And then became one?
* The Question: What should be Bill Brady’s campaign theme song? Snark encouraged. We’ll do Quinn tomorrow, so stick to Brady.

I think he picked his own theme song. after all, he said
“I am what I am,” and he’s going to hear that over and over. he is what he is….so right wing.

OK not with the extreme lyrics of Beck, but his “Loser”, and of course the Beatle’s “I’ma Loser” are the obvious choice…for me.

What a fool believes he sees
No wise man has the power to reason away

Day after day alone on the hill,
The man with the foolish grin is keeping perfectly still,
But nobody wants to know him,
They can see that he’s just a fool,
And he never gives an answer,
But the fool on the hill
Sees the sun going down,
And the eyes in his head,
See the world spinning around.
Well on his way his head in a cloud,
The man of a thousand voices talking perfectly loud
But nobody ever hears him,
Or the sound he appears to make,
And he never seems to notice,
But the fool on the hill . . .
Nobody seems to like him
They can tell what he wants to do.
And he never shows his feelings,
But the fool on the hill . . .

Was Not Was - What Up,(Gas That) Dog? Lyrics
Yeah, you see I just got this new pit (Palin) bull terrier
The thing’s better than a credit card
Went to the gas station the other day
Got a couple gallons of gas, some oil, spark plugs, six pack
The man says, “That’ll be 15.41″ (billion)
I, I say, “Well, god, goddamn, I forgot my wallet
But I did bring my credit card”
What up, (gas that) dog?

This is anon 11:58 again, Panic Switch by the Silversun Pickups works well too…I feel a little bad doing this as an R, but, I couldn’t resist:
“Time
It’s never worth my time
Blue shine
Bleeds into my eyes
I still
Sleep on the right side
Of the white noise
Can’t leave the scene behind
Could I be anything you want me to be
It’s always meant to be seen
When you see yourself in a crowded room
Do your fingers itch, are you pistol-whipped
Will you step in line or release the glitch
Can you fall asleep with a panic switch
And when you see yourself in a crowded room
Do your fingers itch, are you pistol-whipped
Will you step in line or release the glitch
Do you think she’ll sleep with the panic…
Mm, I’ll try
To hold on tight tonight
Pink slip
Inviting me inside
Wanna burn skin
And brand what once was mine
But the red views
Keep ripping the divide
If I go everywhere you want me to go
How will I know you’ll still follow
When you see yourself in a crowded room
Do your fingers itch, are you pistol-whipped
Will you step in line or release the glitch
Can you fall asleep with a panic switch
And when you see yourself in a crowded room
Do your fingers itch, are you pistol-whipped
Will you step in line or release the glitch
Do you think she’ll sleep with the panic…
I’m waiting and fading and floating away
I’m waiting and fading and floating away
I’m waiting and fading and floating away
Waiting and fading and floating.”

Primus — Too many puppies
Too many puppies are being shot in the dark
Too many puppies are trained not to bark at the sight of blood that must be spilled so that we may maintain our oil fields
Too many puppies, too many puppies
Too many puppies are taught to heal
Too many puppies are trained to kill
On the command of men wearing money belts that buy mistresses sleek animal pelts
Too many puppies, too many puppies, too many pup-pup-pup-puppies, too many puppies

Four words: Crosby, Stills, Nash, Young
Don’t ask Jack to help you
Cause he’ll turn the other ear
Won’t you please come to Chicago
Or else join the other side
We can change the world -
Re-arrange the world
It’s dying - if you believe in justice
It’s dying - and if you believe in freedom
It’s dying - let a man live it’s own life
It’s dying - rules and regulations, who needs them
Open up the door
Somehow people must be free
I hope the day comes soon
Won’t you please come to Chicago
Show your face

Pet Sematary–the Ramones
Under the arc of a weather stain boards,
Ancient goblins, and warlords,
Come out of the ground, not making a sound,
The smell of death is all around,
And the night when the cold wind blows,
No one cares, nobody knows.
[CHORUS]
I don’t want to be buried in a Pet Sematary,
I don’t want to live my life again,
I don’t want to be buried in a Pet Sematary,
I don’t want to live my life again.

A world become one
Of salads and sun
Only a fool would say that

Wearing a white stetson hat
Unhand that gun begone
There’s no one to fire upon
If he’s holding it high
He’s telling a lie
CHORUS:

Where all is free

Such a feelin comin over me
There is wonder in most everything I see
Not a cloud in the sky
Got the sun in my eyes
And I wont be surprised if it’s a dream
Everything I want Illinois to be
Is now coming true especially for me
Corrupt administrations decieve
So now I believe
I’m the next Illinois governor to convene
Im on the top of the world lookin’ down on creation
And the only explanation I can find
I’m history bound, 200 votes more than Dillard found
My win puts me at the top of the world

An anthem for the Brady Campaign for moderate suburban voters when they get a load of that right-wing social agenda of his . . . .
Don’t Leave Me This Way
Don’t leave me this way
I can’t survive, I can’t stay alive
Without your love, no baby
Don’t leave me this way
I can’t exist, I will surely miss your tender kiss
So don’t leave me this way
Oh baby, my heart is full of love and desire for you
So come on down and do what you’ve got to do
Downstate started this fire down in my soul
Now can’t you see it’s burning out of control
So come on down and satisfy the need in me
‘Cos only your good loving can set me free
Don’t leave me this way
I don’t understand how I’m at your command
So baby please, so don’t you leave me this way
Oh, baby, my heart is full of love and desire for you
So come on down and do what you’ve got to do
You started this fire down in my soul
Now can’t you see it’s burning out of control
So come on down and satisfy the need in me
‘Cos only your good loving can set me free
Set me free, set me free, set me free, set me free, set me free
Come, satisfy me, come satisfy me
Don’t you leave me this way
Don’t leave me this way
I can’t exist, I will surely miss your tender kiss
So don’t leave me this way
Oh, baby, my heart is full of love and desire for you
So come on down and do what you’ve got to do
