FACT: Adam Kinzinger has proposed capping Social Security benefits, raising the retirement age, and ending the cost of living increase for Social Security recipients.

ATTACK: Social Security benefits need to be capped.
FACT: Adam Kinzinger stated capping Social Security benefits is “a recipe for disaster”.

ATTACK: Adam Kinzinger plans to raise the retirement age.
FACT: Adam Kinzinger has consistently stated that promises made should be promises kept and does not support raising the retirement age.
“We need to ensure that promises made are promises kept to our seniors. I do not support privatizing Social Security. I do not support increasing the payroll tax nor the retirement age. * Actually, Kinzinger didn’t say that capping benefits was a recipe for disaster. He was talking about the payroll tax. And he did not swear off raising the retirement age. From his Tribune questionnaire…
I’m not sure what the top tax rate ought to be, but I do know that repealing the federal tax cuts of 2001 and 2003, imposing surtaxes on upper-income taxpayers, and boosting the Medicaid tax while tinkering with the Social Security cap max, as the Democrats have pursued, together is a recipe for disaster. Is this really “news”, or just the expected response?
We know that if a Democrat has something good to say, the Republican will denounce it. And vice versa. And if there’s something negative, you can bet the Others ™ will magnify it, even beyond its merit.
And what does the Green Party think? (Or any other party fielding candidates)?
Rich, i know you have had disparaging remarks regarding Green Party candidates. Are they really THAT bad?
And could the PUBLIC make that judgement on their own, BEYOND the incessant political ads (rather than the journalists dimissing them to the point of not considering them in response to ads).
Scott Lee Cohen won the LG race because he had money to spend on ads…had the media actually let us know about the candidates (even without the scandal revelations), we might have had a different outcome.

The Halvorson ad hits the spot. Just the right tone for the Joliet Jakes and Jills.
They’re no liberals. They’re the original Reagan Democrats you’ve heard so much about.

At least Debbie’s new ad doesnt have “Adam Kinzsinger” plastered accross the bottom of the screen the entire 30 seconds like the previous ad did. That one was a terrible idea. Most viewers only see these ads in passing because they are drowned out by every other campaign.By having your opponent’s name on screen the whole time you end up giving them more points, regardless of the audio in the background

The Halvorson ad is great. One of the best ads from an IL Dem this year.
Can Adam Kinzinger explain how Halvorson’s policies have caused jobs to move from Illinois to Indiana?
And Hultgren clearly has no money, or much of anything, if that is the best response he can give to Foster’s ad.

Mr. Hultgren is one who lied about Ethan Hastert (remember human trafficking?) and lied about his business credential. It seems he will do anything and say anything to make advances as a career politician. Hultgren is too extreme for this district. We do not need such a person in congress.

To add to my comment above…
I was PLEASANTLY surprised that Charles Thomas of ABC 7 Chicago did an story on the latest Senate tit-for-tat, but spent time and had reaction from both the Green Party & Libertarian Candidates, treating them as equals.
Now, they may not have done the absolute best with the time, but at leastthey were given an OPPORTUNITY. (LeAlan Jones at least was able to show his party’s website!)
I hope others can follow Charles Thomas example. It was so refreshing to see it in-between the “major” parties attack ads.
