Well, you knew it had to happen. Two years ago, some “unknown person” put out a reprehensible flier right before primary day accusing Rep. David Miller of some awful stuff.
Miller (D-Calumet City) is up against Bob Shaw this time around, so he’s been waiting for another late hit. It happened today.
Fliers are reportedly being handed out at some Dolton precinct places (Bob Shaw’s brother is mayor of Dolton) that claim Rep. Miller is supporting Forrest Claypool against John Stroger (which would be a big no-no in that district).
The flier is made to look like it came from Miller himself. You can see it here (jpg file).
Have you heard of any other dirty tricks today?

I heard reports that calls were going out to GOP-leaners in suburban Cook, telling them that since Topinka is a shoo-in, they need to pull Dem. ballots and vote for Claypool.

Fake sample ballots were given to voters in the 11th ward. The fake sample ballots stated that non-supported candidates were supported by the 11th ward democratic party.

Thats nothing you should get your hands on the one that was put out in the Randolph County Sheriff race 3 days ago. Very very bad Can’t wait to see the vote tonight.

Phony sample ballots went out in Palatine virtually identical to the official GOP ballots.

I thought it was illegal to pass out or have campaign literature within a certain distance from a precinct. Aren’t there legal ramifications for handing this literature out at a precinct?

Marta, electioneerin, as it is called, may occur outside a 100 foot area from the entrance to a polling place.

As long as you are 100 feet away from the polling place, you can hand out campaign literature.

Whoever came up with the idea for a last minute blizzard in Central Illinois was a genius. Well timed and perfectly executed. Who does it hurt more, Mangieri or Brady?
Comment by 47th Ward Tuesday, Mar 21, 06 @ 7:44 pm
So funny 47th… it hurts Mangieri most because he had/has a chance… Brady had/has no chance so a blizzard is moot.

The dirtiest trick - Eisendrath fooled a few poor souls (like Randall Sherman and Veteran for Eisendrath) into believing he’d try.
