Sunday session live blog, with a new twist

Posted in:

* We’re going to try something new today. I’ve set ScribbleLive to follow a few Statehouse types and I’ll be adding my own updates as well. But I’ve also enabled ScribbleLive’s comment function so that you can also update everybody on the front page. Just click the “Comment Now” button and post your session update.

Please, try to leave opinions out of your ScribbleLive comments. Just post updates and links to news stories you see pop up during the afternoon/evening (add a headline, though, or we won’t be able to figure out what the links mean). You can post your opinions in the blog’s comment section below. Thanks.

…Adding… I just realized that my account automatically moderates all ScribbleLive comments. So, don’t be alarmed if your comment doesn’t immediately appear. I’ll get to it.

  1. The ScribbleLive feature is baffler. Good luck to you young people.

Tom Roesser’s passing is something to offer a comment on.
As a guest on his WLS-AM show, I always had a chance to get my point across. Usually swimming uphill in that venue, Tom always allowed a guest to finish a thought.

Tom was a tireless advocate for the Haymarket Center. His work there benefited thousands.

I first met Tom when he worked for Quaker and I worked for Mayor Byrne. He was a source of great insight into the City and a very good mentor.

I valued his thoughts on a wide range of topics.
I offer my deepest sympathies to Lillian and their family. All of you will be in my family’s prayers during this very sad and diffcult time.

  2. Capfax is right. Wish someone was tweeting from the House Republican caucus right now. Atleast tell us if we should all go home

Comment by Yellow Dog Democrat Sunday, May 29, 11 @ 7:25 pm

  3. Steve Brown’s gracious comments concerning the late Tom Roeser ought to be repeated and broadcast. Illinois has lost one of its most interesting political commentators and activists.

  4. –(Illinois State Medical Society’s) Tierney says 50 percent of physicians leave the state after learning here.–

So what, and what does that have to do with worker comp medical provider rates? They’ll still be the second highest in the country after a 30% cut.

Illinois is crawling with medical schools — Loyola, Rush, SIU, UofI, UofChicago…. UIC is the largest medical school in the country.

Was the thought that the students from all over the world and country who come to study medicine in Illinois were all going to hang up shingles in strip malls and handle worker comp cases? That’s absurd.

  5. I guess the Docs won’t have to pull their shopping carts down to Aldi in the morning to pick up some Tuna Helper.

Comment by wordslinger Sunday, May 29, 11 @ 8:41 pm

  6. Once again the Republicans take an all or nothing attitude. They are about the most useless group of individuals. Either help solve problems or get the hell out of the way.

  7. What’s up with the Ds voting present?

    Comment by lincoln's beard Sunday, May 29, 11 @ 8:56 pm

  8. A lot of Republicans are going to have a very hard time explaining that vote back home.

Comment by Yellow Dog Democrat Sunday, May 29, 11 @ 8:58 pm

  9. Dwight Kay = Present on his own bill.

@lincolnsbeard - That’s Democrats refusing to pass a bill with no GOP votes.

Comment by Yellow Dog Democrat Sunday, May 29, 11 @ 9:22 pm

  10. On workers comp, Cross is shouting “king me” while Madigan says “checkmate”

Comment by Michelle Flaherty Sunday, May 29, 11 @ 9:24 pm

  11. Just wondering, is it weasily for a legislator to tweet during a debate but not actually speak on the floor?

Comment by Michelle Flaherty Sunday, May 29, 11 @ 9:31 pm

  12. Any sense of any potential action on the Chicago Casino bill; SB744?

    Any Rahmbo sightings in Springpatch?

    Comment by Quinn T. Sential Sunday, May 29, 11 @ 9:43 pm

  13. Is everyone asleep, or is the Scribbler just moving at the speed of government?

    Comment by Quinn T. Sential Sunday, May 29, 11 @ 10:12 pm

  14. So, let me get this straight. Tom Cross NEVER took a caucus positive during the entire Blagojevich administration and yet takes one on Workman’s Comp that puts his members against the business community?

Democrats have to be laughing all the way to the next election.

    Comment by 4 percent Sunday, May 29, 11 @ 10:36 pm

  15. The casino bill is e YES! Rahm is in the game. Book it!
