* The Sun-Times reports that Rob Lowe will play Drew Peterson in an upcoming Lifetime cable channel movie…
Um, OK.
We’ve done the “who would play ‘X’ in a movie” question before, so let’s try a different twist.
* The Question: Who would be the least appropriate actors to play our various state leaders (past and present) in a movie? Explain.

It would be highly inappropriate for Andy Dick to play Speaker Madigan, Tom Green as John Cullerton, Sasha Baren Cohen as Rahm Emanuel.
But it might be funny. Add Johnny Knoxville as Bill Brady and Don Rickles as Pat Quinn and the screenplay writes itself. Lots of flatluence jokes and whatnot.
Comment by 47th Ward Wednesday, Jun 15, 11 @ 11:38 am
If there’s ever a call for someone to play Dick Mell, he should play himself. I can’t think of anyone who looks more like the guy Central Casting would send over if someone needed a Chicago pol.

I’ll second Will Ferrell as Madigan.
Shia LeBeouf as Aaron Shock, mostly because he’s inappropriate to play anyone.
Jeff Bridges as Daley would be good mismatch.
And that horrible sitcome character that Ricky Gervais’ charcter played in season 2 of Extras as Bill Foster.

Pat Quinn, playing himself.

Nathan Lane for Mike Madigan. Lane is generally overly emotive in his roles. Pretty sure no one has ever characterized the Speaker of the House as overly emotive.

For that matter, Ronald Reagan for most of the current Illinois Republican leadership. They are more appropriately played by character actors like Ed Begley, Jr., Al Franken or Mike Farrell.

==Steve Carell as Rod Blagojevich.==
I’ve said it before, but that’s the best possible casting of Rod.
Least appropriate: Mark McKinney as the Chicken Lady as Mark Kirk.
Best casting of creepy Illinois murder: Brian Dennehy as John Wayne Gacy.
