And with that, Illinois welcomes its new Chinese overlords. Residents will soon receive their own copy of some important new rules and regulations.
Don’t lose it. Seriously. Just don’t.

“Dangit, I forgot my red book. What am I going to say if they ask me about it? I’ll just say how great it is to be here and much I like China, especially the food. I remember this great chinese food place in Chicago, they served a strange type of beer I’d never heard of. I wonder if they like American beer? American beer companies are big with baseball and I know Asian countries like baseball. I wonder who the White Sox will get to replace Ozzie?…..”

If only I had worn the red tie, it could have been me up there! But just like in the Spring session, I’m off in the back and nobody cares about me. I knew I should have worn the red tie. What was I thinking? My mother always told me “Son, if you don’t wear the red tie, you will never amount to anything.” But still I didn’t wear the red tie. My mother was right. Why do I even bother? I’m taking Betsy and I’m going home. Just the two us. Just like always. Maybe next time I will wear the red tie. No, who am I fooling?

For some reason, when I look at Quinn, I think of TS Eliot. Quinn always seems like the guy afraid to assert himself. He’s afraid to lead. The look on his face is right out of Prufrock:
“And indeed there will be time
To wonder, “Do I dare?” and, “Do I dare?”
Time to turn back and descend the stair,
With a bald spot in the middle of my hair—
(They will say: “How his hair is growing thin!”)
My morning coat, my collar mounting firmly to the chin,
My necktie rich and modest, but asserted by a simple pin—
(They will say: “But how his arms and legs are thin!”)
Do I dare
Disturb the universe?
In a minute there is time
For decisions and revisions which a minute will reverse”

To celebrate Illinois’ great political culture of “flair and showmanship”, China resurrects Liberace for one final performance on Quinn’s last day of his visit. Never ones to miss out on an opportunity, the Russian Federation resurrected and flew Kim Philby to China for the event, who–prior to Liberace’s performance–gave a lecture to a standing room only crowd on how the US can develop “more aggressive Anglo-American intelligence operations” in China and Russia.
Leaving the gala, Quinn looked a bit dazed and confused, and was overheard rambling something about just wanting to return home to Illinois “where we have rivers…mighty rivers…that are full of water…water that flows…in the mighty State of Illinois…where we have plains…and fields…mighty plains and fields made of dirt…mighty dirt that I’m going to kiss when I land….”
