Great to see the Illinois Police Chiefs coming out against the scourge of medicinal marijuana.
Those chemo patients are just bunch of stoners looking for cheap thrills.
The murderous drug cartels that have turned Mexico into a lawless state of nature and export violence to our country every day thank you for your support.

Why does the announcement for the Governors Press Conference say September 25th?
I spent all this time trying to rewind the last month in an effort to try to back up to where the Governor is these days.

What’s a measly hundred million when it comes to feeding corporate greed? Just close a few more mental health facilities, renege on a couple more labor contracts, stiff a few more social service agencies and we’re good. Who says Illinois is broke?

Can’t the State just renege on contracts with the companies that make up the Civic Committee? They are the ones that can most afford it and besides, that way, they can put their money where there mouth is.

You’re also wrong about the pot - the medical marijuana sold in California is grown there, not by Mexican drug lords but actually by California farmers.
More relevant - I’m shocked at the price tag on the CME bill. No way they generate that much revenue to justify that level of subsidy. Our state needs more transparent and universal economic incentive packages - every time you negotiate with one of these state-shopping businesses we lose.
We should not negotiate with corporate threat-makers.

I’m pretty sure Word was saying that the drug lords will be pleased because sick Illinoisans will have to continue to buy their illegally grown product instead of having access to legally grown medicine.

CME: “You know, your economy isn’t doing so hot here. Be a shame if something happened to it.”
If CME were a dude walking a neighborhood, he’d be picked up and thrown away under RICO. This is extortion, pure and simple. Anyone who votes for this package for CME is in for a world of opposition next year. (At least, in my fantasy world where voters pay attention to things and don’t cower whenever the almighty “job-creators” threaten to take our ball and go home.)

Interesting video of Cullerton, who in response to a statement from the Governors Office which estimates $100 million/yr for the CME bill, he counter claims that the cost to the state would be closer to $60 million/yr based upon “a new census number”. Really.

Thank God ComEd rules the General Assembly. Where would we be without them? Still paying out the wazoo to remain in the dark and without AC, just like many us were most of the summer.
Now that ComEd has been taken care of, let’s continue the people’s work and give a tax cut to CME and something sweet for the racetrack owners, too.
Fortunately, we’re in a booming economy with full employment and everyone safely in their homes with no worries. That gives us ample time to while away the days adjusting the thermostat so our states wealthiest can be all comfiest-coziest all the time.
Those are the priorities of your Democratic Party in the State of Illinois.
