This week’s column is pretty much the same as Friday’s lead story - Lt. Governor Pat Quinn was threatened with political “divorce” if he didn’t keep his yap shut about the governor’s tollway reform plan.
Quinn told Tribune columnist/blogger Eric Zorn on Friday that he hasn’t changed much since becoming Rod Blagojevich’s official second banana.
[Quinn] said his critics haven’t been listening closely enough, that he’s still the same feisty, outspoken activist and advocate he’s always been, “though I won’t go out of my way to be disagreeable,” he said.“I think I’ve been pretty consistent,” he said.
Wrong. Quinn has clearly lost his nerve. He’s a mere shell of his formerly outspoken reformer self of just a few years ago. Those Blagojevich guys must be some serious arm-twisters. They may have picked up more than just campaign cash from Quarters Boyle.
