* The Crosstown Classic begins today. They’ll play three games at Ricketts Stadium… um… I mean, Cub Park. With the Flubs’ owners all over the news, I thought fans of both teams might like a little trash-talking opportunity.
So, rather than a question, let’s go at each others’ throats in comments. Civility is out the window today (this is baseball, not politics). But keep your language clean.
Cardinals fans will get an opportunity next month when their club hosts the White Sox.

I heard Mark Prior will be at Wrigley today to accompany Kerry Wood off the field one last time. Ambulances will be standing by.
Comment by Davey Boy Smithe Friday, May 18, 12 @ 11:46 am
Both teams guilty of ugly public actions this week. The moneyman behind the Cubs earned national ridicule for a botched race-baiting campaign.
The White Sox, meanwhile, plan to start Adam Dunn in left field.

Back in 2010, Sports Illustrated ran a feature on the Cubs’ new management. Key quote:
“The whole lovable losers thing? I hate it,” says Tom Ricketts, the Cubs’ new chairman.
Perhaps this week’s news is his family’s attempt to rid the franchise of that image.

The White Sox fans are winning in the early comment battle. Tough to beat Davey Boy Smithe, and Boone Logan Square seems to think it is 2011. Sox LF Adam Dunn is outplaying Cubs LF Alfonso Soriano so far in 2012.

I hope Wood gets a chance to pitch one last time.

Cubs, hit it to left. The over-priced Welfare Sox guy makes your over-priced guy look like a gold glover.
And I’ll say it again while I still can, Welfare Sox, Welfare Sox, Welfare Sox.

Dunn is a wonderful hitter this season. I speak solely of his defense in the outfield, which has always been offensive.

I think if Papa Ricketts were supporting an Obama Super PAC (with negative ads sure to come) this would be a non issue…Cubs will win 2 of 3.

Rich, when do the Sox announce the trade Kenny Williams just worked out? (AJ for Woody)
Screw the politics. Let’s play ball.
Oh, and have fun trying to catch and hit it past Tony C. Short man representin’!

International NATO delegates, come see the Cubs, last time they won it all there wasn’t even a League of Nations and the Ottoman Empire still existed…

It turns out the Ricket’s feel one good negative ad about Reisdorf is all it would have taken to win it all in 2005

The Cubs still have a banner from their last World Series win thanking the Austro-Hungarian empire.

So Wood is retiring? I thought he was on the disabled list more than he played.
Well the Sox will be at the place where the goat will arrive from the Southwest, to show them how baseball is played.
There are so many reasons I am glad to be a Sox Fan.

Rickett’s Urinal will be rocking today. Unfortunately, these six games are the only meaningful games that either team will play this year.
Comment by Bill Friday, May 18, 12 @ 12:54 pm
I’d like to thank the Ricketts family for torpedoing their chances of getting any public money to renovate Wrigley for the near term future.
Thank you.
Perhaps a boycott of the team could be started which would drive the Ricketts into selling the team to some even wealthier individual or family. You know someone who might actually care about winning and wouldn’t beg for public money while pretending to be a conservative.

Could they have Rev. Wright say a few words of invocation before the game (in lieu of a ceremonial first pitch)?

AAH…so nice to get away from the fighting in Springfield and enjoy watching our teams engage in the cross town rivalry. None of the pettiness and in fighting of the GA, just Michael Barrett vs AJ Pierzynski, and Carlos Zambrano vs Derek Lee, North siders vs South Siders…
Comment by LisleMike Friday, May 18, 12 @ 2:42 pm
The dirty Cubs hit Pauly in the face in his next at bat, after he hit a home run. Call NATO to protect the White Sox in case the Cubs keep up this dirty play.

If anyone is interested here’s an interesting piece from Slate on why a political consultant might hype the “Reverend” problem regarding President Obama.
