* From WSCR afternoon host Dan Bernstein…
Ricketts on black aldermen: “A lot of these people have become like friends.” Don’t say things like that. “These people?”
Um.

Ahh, the thought police are always alert to gotchas to maintain an Orwellian political correctness in the media. Feel better? Think that the Rickett’s family are, deep in their hearts, racists of the worst stripe? Do you or Dan Bernstein really believe that the owners of the Cubs are secret KKKers because of a off hand quote? If not, what is your point in publicizing it?

Rich, don’t let your hatred of the Cubs make you start seeing shadows where they don’t exist…

Not sure which is worse:
“These People” or
“like Friends” not quite, but almost

I think by “these people” he meant “these rubes” who are gonna give them public money so they can save there money to use to beat “These People’s President!”

John A Logan, no worries. He wasn’t talking about white southern conservative men.

Its kind of simple. We (Black folk) do not like be referred to as these people” “those people” or “you people.” Its a nuance that definitely make a difference. Ask members of the Legislative Black Caucus about how they would feel if they were referred to as “these people.”
Commissioner Fritchey, with all due respect because you are one of my favorites Rich isn’t seeing shadows that don’t exist.

Tom Rickett’s comments are part of a professional pr offensive to, well, improve the family’s image.
Remarkable.
If there’s a cow pie on which step, they’ll find it.

===If there’s a cow pie on which step, they’ll find it. ===
Or make it.
David is right that the Ricketts are on a PR offensive as a result of media reports about a racially charged advertising campaign. A little common sense should be expected during a period like this.
Fritchey, you’re wrong. Stop being a fanboy.

What I find so humorous about all this hubris is that in the end, the Ricketts will get their money.

It’s hilarious that the Ricketts think they have to mend fences by appealing to black Chicagoans. Like they’re the only ones offended by welfare for billionaires in tough times.
What a mindset. Obama is black, so I guess we offended the blacks?
How about this? I’m an old white Norwegian Cubs fan who grew up on the farm and thinks it stinks, regardless that Tea Party Joe funds an anti-government spending super-pac but still wallows up to the trough.
Reinsdorf may have robbed the taxpayers for Cominskey, and the McCaskeys got way too much for Soldier Field, but it’s a new and different day.
In these times, with these horrible cuts that are going on, any public money for Wrigley Field is outrageous.
These guys got a $150 million off the asking price for the Cubs when Zell, Blago and Big Jim couldn’t sell the rotten deal to spin off the liability for Wrigley to the ISFA and the taxpayers before Blago got busted.
Spend that money on the park.
By the way, the Cubs are on pace for the worst record in their history.
These Ricketts really know timing and leverage.

You would think ‘those’ born to wealth and privilege would get the politically correct condescending act down better than this. Don’t they teach this in those posh private schools they attend?

WHere could they move if Chicago and Illinois tell them no ? I come up with Indiana or Iowa!
Good Luck Sell while its still worth something

So when will Joe Ricketts go on Cliff Kelley’s show? That would be fun.
