On Wednesday, the freshman Republican said Duckworth’s spot does little to explain to voters where she stands on key issues.
“I have always been careful to say that we respect her service and we have so much respect for her loss, but to be an elected member of Congress, you’ve got to have enough respect for voters that you tell people what you believe and where you stand on the issues,” Walsh said. “It’s not just good enough to be a candidate based on biography.”
Walsh also questioned why Duckworth was scheduled to speak at Santa Monica College in California on Thursday, saying she should instead be meeting with voters in the district. Walsh teamed with the Illinois Republican Party to give away plane tickets to a GOP donor to attend the speech.
“It’s almost like she’s this national celebrity who stays away from her own district,” Walsh said. “I just don’t think voters are going to appreciate that.”

After an $810,000 ad buy last week by Washington, D.C.-based Now or Never PAC, three groups have reported another $243,788 in expenditures, according to the Federal Election Commission.
LaGrange-based Lunch Pail Republicans, a pro-union Republican-backing SuperPAC, is spending $6,618 on a billboard supporting Walsh, according to the commission. Lunch Pail officials did not return requests for comment Wednesday.
Tea Party-affiliated SuperPAC Freedom Works for Americas spent $100,000 on a mailing for Walsh, of McHenry, and another $15,000 on online ads, according to the commission. It also spent another $3,000 on voter guides and books opposing Duckworth, of Hoffman Estates.
Since last week’s ad buy, Now or Never has spent another $122,000 on online advertising and direct mail, spokesman Tyler Harber said.

The biggest flood of SuperPAC money flowing into the 11th Congressional District to date comes in the form of a new advertisement by a Republican pro-gay rights group.
The ad rehashes an attack on Bill Foster made during his 14th Congressional District race against Republican Jim Oberweis four years ago.
The claim uses a previously debunked, out-of-context quote by Foster to try and paint him as a politician taxpayers can’t afford to put back in office.

No idea how you can be “pro-union” and do something “supporting Walsh.”

Did Walsh send a heckler? That would be his style.
The ad is an intro ad. Of course it’s based on biography.
We’ll see if more policy positions make it thru the clutter, in the coming weeks.

So Freedom Works PAC bought books attacking Duckworth. I’ve been hearing rumors of a “Swift Boat” attack on her, based on fabricated and/or purely politically-driven statements by a few Iraq War veterans.
That kind of disgrace had better not occur again in this country.

There’s some real money getting behind Walsh. They must have some inkling that he has a shot. Dems better not take that one for granted.

agree with Wordslinger. like the ad as intro, but attach the point of her service to things she has already done in government work after military, bad votes Walsh has taken, and plans she has for legislation.

the ad concept isn’t new, Romney put an ad out there of him looking athletic and running through new hampshire in 2007-2008 to show a contrast with the portly huckabee and aging mccain. the problem for duckworth is that her story and consultants do a far better job at explaining why she should be a member of congress than she does. Walsh can’t control himself which is why he will lose, but I thought he manhandled her badly in the 2 debates they’ve done so far. She just can’t think or say anything that hasn’t been programmed into her by her staff.

A real intro ad would have Rahm standing next to Tammy saying this is my hand picked rep for all yous out there in duespage. Yous do what I want and I wont steal Mcdonalds headquaters to go with Motorola and Sara Lee

Enough with the introductions, Tammy Duckworth, who previously pledged not to run for Congress again after losing to Peter Roskam needs no further introduction.
Making college more affordable? I’d love to hear Duckworth explain the specifics of that promise.
College tuition used to be inexpensive until the government intervened and began offering student loans on easy terms. The colleges and universities took notice and hiked and hiked tuition rates and administrative salaries while encouraging students to go into debt to attend classes. In some instances, tuition is 1,500% higher than it was a generation ago.
A few months ago, I listened to a sitting Circuit Court Judge, who worked his way through law school by working as a part-time doorman and an elevator operator, describe how outraged the students in his class were when Northwestern University Law School increased its tuition rate from $600.00 per semester to $750.00 during the Sixties.
Tuition increases, administrative and tenured faculty salaries bear no relationship to reality and more and more institutions are using adjunct faculty members to balance their bloated budgets.

When Walsh and the IL GOP are so incredibly stupid as to waste money sending someone to a california Democrat fundraiser as part of some silly game, they just prove why they deserve to lose. How exactly does that make people believe you’re the financially responsible party eh Joe Walsh and Pat Brady?

Would your sensitive nature be appeased if Duckworth recorded spots only from the waist up?

Hypothesis for discussion: Walsh is running against a candidate with a strong biography in a district drawn to elect a democrat because he does not expect to win, and he is looking at a statewide race in 2014.

Walsh does have too much money to burn. I would love to see them actually do good with the money .. ie. helping the needy. Then.. make an inexpensive ad describing what they decided to do with their donations/money. They would win by a landslide.
