I don’t understand this “courts give us freedom in a crisis” logic… how can you claim authority to fix pensions as a crisis when “you”, the Legislature, created the “crisis” ?

It’s probalby unconstitutional as it changes COLA for retirees and diminishes benefits for current employees.

You have to love Nekritz and her interpretation that the courts give special powers to the legislature in times of crisis. Does anyone have any legal precedants to support this? I can’t find any. I also witnessed Ralph Martire completely destroy Nekritz and her ideas at a presentation in Niles on Monday night. Ralph based his position totally on the facts and Nekritz had absolutely no counter to the facts, even though she had Biss seated right next to her talking about his different buckets. I thought I was watching the Bozo bucket contest all over again.
