If you couont all of the overtime periods, my prediction of Hawks in 7 was correct. I am very glad it didn’t come back to Chicago though. Not sure I could have handled the jitters.
Coach Q and Stan Bowman deserve a ton of credit. Q is now a permanent fixture in Chicago sports history. That guy is never going to need to open his wallet to any bar ever again.

I’m not a hockey fan, but I’m definitely a Chicago fan, so I’m happy to see Chicago have something to celebrate.
The management of the celebration last night seemed to go well from my view. It still surprises me that the police needed to break out the riot gear because the fans couldn’t behave appropriately, but they seemed to get things under control pretty quickly.

Thanks! It was a beauty to watch. A crushing comeback, one of the greatest games I’ve ever seen, in any sport. This is great for Chicago and Illinois.

There was a great case study of Illinois politics last night when Gov. Quinn was interviewed live a little after midnight and he said that the victory parade would be Wednesday. #GovFail

Tremendous accomplishment! All I can say is that the Blackhawks as an organization have done a 180 since Bill Wirtz passed away. His son Rocky has done wonders for the Hawks and their fans. It was so good to see the number of young fans participating in the celebration. I hope it continues for years to come.

Unbelieveable finish last night! A lot of people don’t know it, but Rocky’s sister, Betty Wirtz, who I believe is part owner, lives in Springfield. Thanks to her, last time the Hawks won the Cup, she had it come to the Capitol rotunda for all to see!

penalty killing and shot blocking was epic last night. Two Stanley Cups in 4 seasons, in a time when the salary cap makes the NHL a true “Moneyball” sport, is awfully impressive.

By far one of the best hockey seasons to watch as a Hawks fan…a condensed, urgent, rough and tumble 48 game season, an unheard of 23 game streak, wild comebacks, and a finals series that had Hawks fans holding their collective breaths the entire time. Not to mention new role players stepping forward and stealing the show, see Shaw and Bickell for example. Heck, count Handzus in there too…the guys 36 years old and found huge ways to contribute.

Kane was certainly worthy of the Smythe, as were Crawford and Sharp, but to me Toews is the guy who makes his team go.
His shortie for the Hawk’s first goal to tie it, coming off a concussion the other night, showed the heart of a lion.
He’s the best defensive forward in hockey, takes a pounding from the other team’s enforcer every night, but gets up and rams his stick in deep and breaks it off, every night.
Chara almost killed him last night in the third, but Toews came back to set up the tieing goal.
Splendid behavior.
Two Cups, a Gold Medal, Captain of the Hawks and King of Chicago. Not bad for a 25-year-old kid from Winnipeg.

Still amazed at that finish. Went from resigned to a game seven on Wednesday , to “Hey, we can win it in OT!”, to “Did Bolland really just score a goal that quickly?!!!

Full transparency: I started watching hockey for the first time this year when the Hawks were on their hot streak.
Perhaps someone out there in the sea of hangovers could explain to this noob how “Chelsea Dagger” became associated with the Hawks? Just a catchy tune, or is there something more?

Even I had enough inside baseball tips to know that it was going to be on Friday whether they won it on Monday or Wednesday. That decision was made over the weekend. Where does he get his intel?

Now that I think about it, no, I have never seen that in all my years as a player, ref and a fan.
Amazing series with a historic finish! The image of Bolland throwing his gloves off after scoring that goal will go down as one of the greatest moments in hockey history. Amazing feelings today from a life long Hawks fan. It feels even better than 2010. Thanks for the thread Rich!
P.S. - Please bring the Cup down to Springfield again.

I’ve also never seen two goals in 17.7 seconds, starting at 1:16 to go, to win the Cup!
That still hasn’t sunk in yet. But those numbers will live forever in Chicago.

But seriously, last night’s game was a topper for a post-season was full of fantastic moments. Hawks over Detroit in Game 7 OT? Boston over Toronto in Game 7 OT? (That sound you’re hearing are Cubs fans saying “Yeah, we know how *that* feels”) All the other series that went 7? Great goal scoring? Out of this world goal tending? Good stuff all around. And a deserving group wins it all. Congratulations to them! (And kudos to NBC for live streaming all the games too.)

I’ve never watched a full hockey game. Still haven’t. Happened to turn on the TV toward the end of the 2nd period and decided to watch the full third period with my son.
Wow! For it being the only period of hockey that I’ve ever watched in my life, I think I saw a magical one.
My only disappointment is that I’m not sure any other hockey game will ever match up.

This is epic because the last four teams playing in the conference finals each won the Stanley Cup. The Blackhawks are the best of the best. This is a great organization, top to bottom.
The Hawks were great in front of the Boston net all series, scoring on rebounds and hammering in passes.
Dave Bolland was an unsung hero in the playoffs. He rose to the occasion and really contributed, from the hit on a Detroit player that freed up the puck for Seabrook to score the game 7 overtime winner, to the three goals he scored against Boston. Kane is arguably the most dangerous offensive player in hockey.
We will enjoy this fully.

good god it felt good to beat the Bruins! the vision of Toews streaking toward the goal after the Chara error was magnificent. Shaw’s face the quilt of victory….all those stitches!!!! Crow in goal making some astounding saves while the Hawks found the five hole a few times on Rask.

Great game, great series, Toews, Crawford, Kane, Coach Q, Bowman, injuries, drama, peaking….
I don’t think we will be able to put this in complete perspective (2 in 4 years) until some distance is put behind the run, (it ain’t over, these kids are young, and signed long-term!).
We are in the “moment”, and it is only going to get better and better once we look at this completed work and just relish all these guys “in the dressing room”, and this franchise.

One of the most incredible comebacks ever–certainly #1 now in NHL History for the Finals at least…! Wow–2 Stanley Cups in 4 years–and with only 9 guys left from the 2010 Championship Club!! They’re quite a talented Bunch and ALL of Illinois has something in the Sports World to be VERY proud about–way to go Hawks!!!
